Biography
P E R S O N A L I T Y Gold may not be the smartest dragon in Sornieth, but he has a heart to match his name and boundless generosity. He doesn't aspire to hoard wealth or even have a proper home like most dragons- he's nomadic, giving away whatever he gains to others. His only real possession is his gold necklace, which he's had since he was a hatchling. F A M I L I A R

~~~~~L I F E ~~~~~Gold can't remember his parents- his long term memory is extremely faulty, and he was taken from them to be sold at a very young age. His only sibling was sent off to the windsinger almost the moment they reached the auction house, and he never saw her again. He was afraid; he knew nothing about what happened after a dragon went to serve a deity and he wanted to explore before he was forced to serve for the rest of his life. ~~~~~Rather than waiting around to see where he'd go, he fled, actually knocking over a stack of familiar crates as he did so. One of them burst when it hit the ground, and a shining goblin took off after him, an orb clutched to its chest. Nobody seemed to notice in the turmoil of the busy building and they both escaped into the cool night air. ~~~~~Conary named Gold himself that night. He was a highly unusual dragon- his hide was cracked in places, and golden light seeped out from between his scales. His runes were so pristine that they looked like they had been painted on with a thin brush. He even had a bulb sprouting from his forehead, a lantern in the night to guide them in the dark. Conary told him later that when he slept, it dimmed to a soft, hardly visible glow. Some dragons may have thought he was a freak, but if they did, they never said it out loud. He charmed everyone they met, and always gave away whatever he found or made through hard work. ~~~~~However, he was unhappy. Even with Conary's friendship he felt lonely, and every dragon he met kept asking for more and more, even when he had nothing to give. He tried to be friends with them even when he had given them everything he had, but when the gifts stopped coming, they left him. At first he tried to get a loan so that he could share it with them, but Conary stopped him, which did cause their first fight. Gold knew he was just trying to help him, but he was so lonely. He just wished he could find someone to be friends with even if he had nothing, but he slowly came to realize that they had never been his friends in the first place. ~~~~~He decided to head out into the most lonely part of world. Perhaps if he went there, he wouldn't mind the isolation. At least being alone would be better than being surrounded by dragons who paid him no mind anymore. With Conary he turned and left, his passing unnoticed by those who had once been delighted to see him. He passed through many areas until he finally arrived at the shattered plain. ~~~~~It was cold and empty, and as he settled down onto the endless expanse of hard-packed rock and dust, he felt peace. It was so different from his birth place, but it just felt right. They weren't alone - a small velvet floracat, skinny and scared, watched them from the shadows, but when Gold beckoned it over it obliged with a purr and a nuzzle. He fed it the small scraps of food he still had within his bag before curling up to go to sleep, the cat and Conary nestled with him. ~~~~~In the morning, he began to travel. He walked aimlessly for days, not really having any direction or purpose. The cat followed silently and Conary did as well, all of them lost in thought and hungry. The food they scavenged here was meager at best, and although he welcomed the company of the cat, he still felt alone. However, on the fifth day of travelling, he met Mollistris. She was battered and bruised; old blood caked her wounds and her eyes were dark with exhaustion. She saw him glowing in the early morning light and opened her mouth to speak before collapsing onto her side. ~~~~~Gold was about to rush forwards to help her until he saw the runes that were now obvious to all of them. They were unmistakably carved into her, and even he, sheltered as he was, recognized them for what they were. They marked her as a murderer. However, before he could speak, she explained, telling him that she wasn't like the rest and that she was being pursued. Despite the danger, he chose to believe her. They banded together, and after some time they settled down in a clan, though Gold is always on the lookout for the one who harmed her, because it's only a matter of time before they strike again. |
