"Don't run, you'll just make things worse for yourself." ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ Python was once a regular dragon. He took on whatever work came his way, travelling across Sornieth with no home or destination. However, he felt unfulfilled, wishing for some sort of greater purpose. When he came across a bounty contract to take down a vile and delusional necromancer who was killing and resurrecting dragons to create an army to rival the gods, he felt his heart stir with purpose. He set off immediately, believing this was his chance to truly make a difference. When he entered the necromancer's lair, it was silent and dark, with not a soul to be seen. Confused, he crept further into the darkness. He didn't notice the dragon that slipped in behind him, nor did he feel the cold bite of their blade until the warmth of his blood began to flow from the wound in his back. He turned in a desperate attempt to face his attacker but they knocked him to the ground, and his world went dark as his head hit the ground. In a black void, he pleaded with the spirit that was being bound to him by the necromancer who had lured him. He promised to bring it the souls it desired if it would give him its strength, and it agreed, waking him to face the necromancer who was still attempting to drain his soul. Together they fought the necromancer, the spirit's power seeping out from within him and guiding his arrows to hit with deadly precision. When the necromancer lay dead at his feet he knew then that his purpose was to rid the world of evil, allowing the spirit to trap their souls in eternal purgatory as punishment for their foul deeds. He wields incredible power because of the spirit but it wears on his soul, and he fears that one day he will become its target rather than the dragons they pursue. |
