Biography

The oldest and wisest of the Lair Guardians, Shusui remained within the depths of the Plaguelands for most of his life before venturing out into the Shadowrealms and joining the Clan. He knew strength and courage when he saw it within Terk and eagerly accepted his role within the Clan.

He doesn't say much, mostly letting the other Guardians speak, but his keen eyes miss nothing that goes on. He can sense danger when it is still far off and can calmly calculate the possible outcomes of battle without loosing sight of the enemy at hand. He can keep Kitetsu in check and has been known to sit and converse with Ichimonji for long periods of time as well.

Mostly though, Shusui sticks to himself and can most often be found in his den at the back of the lair. There he is surrounded by his many books, tomes and scrolls, all items he's collected over the years of his long life. Hatchling and dragon alike come to visit him, but only if they remain quiet while he works. A raised brow or a flick of the tail easily turns those who would seek to break Shusui's silence skittering away, their claws clacking loudly on the stone flooring of the lair.

Dust covered everything, with trails of tiny feet scattered about, but Shusui didn't mind it one bit. The smell of stale paper filled the air and he could already hear in his mind the creak of old leather as it flexed over the spine of a book. Flicking his ears forward, the older dragon walked across his den, claws digging into the rug he'd brought with him from the Plaguelands.

It muffled his footsteps as he crossed to his bed, laying down with a sigh and throwing his tail over his nose. He was just about asleep when he heard a sound and he lazily cracked one eye to survey his many bookshelves in search of who it could be.

It had taken him most of his life to gain this collection, with books from all over the lands, and he was fairly protective of them. Sniffing at the air, he snorted when he caught a whiff of who it was and went back to his nap. “Did I wake you?” Purple frills flicked forward at him as wide eyes peered over the top of a book. “Sorry, I was trying to be quiet.” Tiny claws tapped against the book the fae was holding as she seemed to hide behind it.

“It's all right Robin, it's only you.” Yawning, Shusui shook his head. “I just wasn't aware you were in here is all. I thought perhaps you were out in the woods with Shimmer or something.”

She nodded, perking up at knowing she hadn't woken the other dragon up. “We are going out there now! I was getting your plant book, I hope that's okay. Shimmer wanted to check a new plant she found against what you have in your books.”

“Oh? Just be careful with it.”

The little fae laughed as she clutched the book tightly to herself. “I will be! I'm going to give it straight to Shimmer for her to carry! And Kitetsu is going with us as well, so no need to worry about it getting ruined if we come across something in the woods! I will return it safely and possibly have some new information for you as well!” She spoke as she moved, heading for the door and waving goodbye as she left.

Shusui had to smile, the little fae was so curious, always out to gain new knowledge about something. She spent so much of her time in his den, that Shusui had decided to unofficially invite her to live there as well. It was actually rare the two of them were both in there together anyway, and when they were, they were both either sleeping or reading or some combination of the two.

Yawning again, he got comfortable in his bed, once again throwing his tail over his muzzle as he closed his eyes. His book would be safe in her and Shimmer's care, he knew that very well. Part of him was even excited to see what new things they would return with. A new plant for Shimmer and perhaps some new information to store in his books. It was most certainly a good end to the day.
