Biography

Born into the clan, Shimmer is one of the few that has known nothing but what is around her. Raised in the lands of Shadow, the young Pearlcatcher grew up on stories of the other realms and the dangers that lurked outside their ashen home. She ventures out now that she's older, and can take care of herself, having learned to fight from a young age, but she would rather not. Shimmer prefers to use her claws for digging up the more delicate and finer things to be found in the darkness she calls home, than to fight with them. She can leave that to Terk and the Guardians.

It all started with a little glowshroom she discovered growing on the wall in her cavern room one day. The small purplish thing seemed out of place, but Shimmer was curious about it and wanted to learn more. At that time, there was no one else to really teach her about horticulture and things that grew and thrived, so she took it upon herself to learn.

At first she wouldn't venture much past the lair entrance and only had more glowshrooms to show for it. They brightened her room, giving off purple and blue hues that shimmered across her scales and gave the young hatching her name. Over time she ventured out farther and farther from the lair, collecting different plants, mosses and mushrooms to bring back to her space.

Now her area of the lair is lush and plentiful, full of varieties of plants and fungi from all over the lands. Some of her favorites include the Fire flower, Greenpod Bloom and Redblood Snapper. Silvery and Hollowed Ivory plants cling to all the walls and hang from her doorway. All manner of mushroom cover the walls and moss covers the stone floor. It's even grown out into the connecting hallway and up the walls surrounding her doorway. Every dragon in the clan knows where Shimmer resides. The Pearlcatcher has even gone out and captured a few butterflies who now flutter about and call her garden their home.

With her now vast knowledge, Shimmer's garden has also become a way for the clan to stock food. There is a constant fresh supply of plants for the dragons of the lair to eat and with a large amount of herbivores, her garden is greatly respected and cherished by all. The clan has also harvested her glowshrooms to replant within the lair to brighten hallways and use as light sources throughout the damp walls.

Shimmer is happy there and spends much of her time in her nest, as it is one of the more comfortable of the lair. She greatly enjoys teaching the young ones about plants that grow not only close to home but all over the realm. She's collected plants from the far reaches, either but venturing afar herself or having one of the other clan members return with a new species for her to learn about. Clay pots litter the flooring and hallway as well. There is also discussion of finding a second space for Shimmer to expand her garden into as well, it has grown that big!

One of the dragons who brings her the most plants, ironically enough, is Kitetsu. Originally from the Nature Clans, he has a way with plants that he doesn't like to talk about. It started off as a friendly gesture to help Shimmer expand her gardens, but over time, the two grew close and now it is a way for him to show how much to loves and cares for his mate.

Shimmer is always happy to see him and what new variety of fauna he has brought home to her. Even though she is greatly aware of what lurks deep within Kitetsu and has witnessed his destruction first hand, she loves him dearly and wouldn't have him any other way.
