Scholar of the Dark City

"You cannot understand the ocean by standing on the shore."

Curiosity and caution are rarely aligned, as genius and madness are often entwined. Daughter of the emissaries Valkour and Harthrenain, Eurys deigned to take after neither, and instead carved her own path through light and shadow as a scholar of Val-ar-Aion. Once a Loreseeker praised for her precocity, she was anticipated to rival Solderoi as a contemporary, but the same cunning that made her an exemplary student would soon lead to the irreparable schism between herself and the Church.

Her research and the privilege of her birth would lead her to depths heretofore forbidden- disturbing the gloom of the lost cities long buried beneath Val-ar-Aion, source of the darkness that wells up from the streets at dusk. She became fascinated by the impenetrable shade of those places, and by the inscrutable texts left behind by those once-great civilizations. The dark held no terror for Eurys, only infinite potential. What forgotten mysteries might be secreted within those dripping depths? Among her most prominent inventions are the Black Lanterns seldom seen within the city, but employed fruitfully by the Shadeslayers in order to attract the enemy, rather than repel it. Her experiments with the shed essence of Mellivere, the living philosopher's stone, have bred life in strange new forms: the only children she will ever have: Cinderwick and Yuya the homunculi, and the false seraph Solset, to speak nothing of the countless discarded failures. How long the Church will tolerate these iniquities remains to be seen, but Eurys for her part could not care less. One cannot call oneself a seeker of truth if certain truths are to be forbidden.

"Strength of arms won't help us here. What we need is more light!"

~
"She trimmed her wings, hovering for a moment on the rank, stale air of the Pit- then suddenly she was falling, falling through that vast chasm like an autumn leaf, down into the cradle of darkness, the maw beneath the black city."

-the only one to have plumbed the depths of the Dark City
-the rest of the clan is a little bit afraid of her
-has zero fear, is possibly slightly broken
-created "b*stard lamps" out of depleted sacridite that attract the Shade rather than repel it, in order to study it
-Ahrima is not pleased
-Eurys does not care
-Anyone that shares a bloodline with Harthrenain is apparently slightly... touched
