From demonology: Phenex is a Marquis of Hell, commanding twenty legions of lesser demons. They are a teacher, a poet, and a conjurer.

Phenex herself is an old witch, older even than the clan she now finds herself in. She believes in the power of darkness -- not as fear, or mystery, but as adventure. The unknown called to her from a young age, beckoning with soft arms, enfolding her in its embrace. The dark is not evil, or frightening. The dark represents change, distance, the future. Phenex is not evil, not by a long stretch. But she has also seen enough to know that nothing is wholly good, no matter how much it wants to be.

She doesn't talk much, not anymore. She does, however, teach some of her magic to the young ones of the clan -- and to Cavalcade, the venerated Oracle. In return, the clan lets her conduct her meditations and magics in relative peace.
