permababy gaolers that just can’t grow up, are social outcasts all their life, regarded as a complete failure to their parents because they cannot join one of the five orders
the baby running away from home, climbing to the surface and running out into the icy wasteland to die, it doesn’t deserve to live if it cannot fulfill it’s purpose. waking up in the den of a nesting tundra family, being adopted by these tundra parents who aren’t quite sure what to make of this weirdly shaped, eternally youthful, giant tundra baby but loving them all the same.
the baby trying to play with the other hatchlings in the clan but it cannot because it’s just too big and too scary and it’s genes are too different. being bullied by the other children because it’s Other. watching it’s playmates grow into adulthood, hating them for the abuse but envying them all the same. not being able to hang out with the adults either because they will always belittle them.
the baby finding a scroll of maturity by complete accident one day, do they take it?
