Robin's home clan were a flock of vibrant-feathered Wind dragons.
Nestled away in a hidden location within their territory, these dragons had exclusive access to an enchanted spring with mysterious properties.
Those who bathed in the waters would be blessed with some manner of enchantment or boon, with effects varying between each individual at a seemingly random degree; Some dragons found their feathers turning brilliant iridescent shades, others would gain a beautiful singing voice, or be cured of all manner of ailments.


On a gusty summer afternoon, Robin finally had his chance to soak in the special waters as part of a traditional celebration in his flock; a celebration for his soon to be adulthood.
Everything proceeded as normal, but when he removed himself from the waters and started the effort to dry off, there were no immediate changes to be seen or hints at what boon the enchanted waters had given.

At first, he was simply disappointed. Was he really the only dragon in the history of his clan that the waters had refused?
There were no changes in feather pigment, no enhancement of the senses, no boost to his magical powers, not even a mild warm fuzzy feeling. Nothing!

As the years went on, however, it became clear that the waters had not denied him something. He came to understand exactly what the waters had done.

Though his mind matured, his body stayed youthful. Yes, in celebration for reaching maturity, the young skydancer had, rather ironically, been blessed with the rare magic of eternal youth.
