CLOWNSHOES was notable even before she apprenticed with the Brights. She could light up any dance hall with her music, and make the most stonefaced dragon snort with laughter. Of course, that was under her old name. She was a Bright now.

Her quick rise through the ranks did not leave feathers unruffled. While envy kept her isolated from the others in her faction, the platform it gave her was enough to grit through it. If this is what stardom meant, so be it. She had what she wanted, right?

One night, both her troupe and a rival one were contracted for a high profile gala. For most tensions were high, but CLOWNSHOES had never met her supposed enemies before, and was more curious than anything else. One particular dragon also did not seem to buy in to the rivalry. In the chaos of the party they both snuck off for some fresh air.

She'd be berated if the others learned she was friends with a Mask. Marceau would be in a similar tight spot. Long distance correspondence was both tedious and risky, and both entertainers grew anxious that they could never be together if life kept going in the current trajectory.

In the dead of night, carrying hastily packed bags, they met up on neutral territory between the two troupes. They abandoned their old crews and predetermined paths, in preference for paving their own.
