"No whistle, no foul, no real harm done."
❁ STORY
Even before he arrived at the lair, Chevron was a trickster; he had to be. He’d taught himself to steal to survive and found he was very good at it. Nothing is truly safe from Chevron’s claws, and when he arrived at the Reliquary, stealing everything he could was his primary goal. Inerri, bless her, thought she could ‘reform’ him. It’s been years since she insisted they take him in and he’s shown exactly zero signs of giving up his thieving ways. And why would he? Meeting Bereave was like a spark to oil; her creativeness and his skills at getting past locks and detection magic make them quite the duo. Not just at stealing either; setting traps in the lair (both the vicious kind for defence and more benign ‘joke’ traps for the residents), repurposing some of Yesterday’s remaining inventions (often to release a mostly harmless explosion of sparkles or something similar), and their favourite indulgence: pranks. From simple things, like their staple paint bombs, to more complex things such as colouring the river an ominous shade of purple, all are worthy pursuits. Sometimes they even get Dribblerawr involved; he loves feeling included and is good at making a mess! Most assume that all of Chevron’s skills are the physical kind, and they’d be forgiven for thinking that since he rarely advertises his magic. Primarily, as could be expected, he uses magic for stealing (or pranks). A Light dragon, Chevron never learned the more respectable uses of his element and instead specialises almost entirely in illusions. Whether that’s presenting a more upright appearance of himself, changing how others perceive his speech, making a perfectly boring rock look like an expensive vase or generating baffling realities to give pursuers pause in their chase, Chevron is a master of illusion. So long as his magic is convincing enough, most will never question the reality of it. Skydancers are harder to fool and he’s yet to successfully deceive Venin or Anthelion, but as a rule, his talents in the area make stealing much, much easier. Cheerful and clever, Chevron is always exciting to have around, with his witty banter and generally pleasant disposition; he’s not a hard dragon to like. Just a hard dragon to live with. For all his reprehensible habits, though, he’s a loyal friend and a good mate, willing to give Bereave anything she needs. Not something he shares with most; he would have enjoyed the opportunity to be a good father too. His eyes always taken on an unexpectedly sorrowful cast when he sees Khazamaran. ❁ OTHER
