"Throw off your shackles. Welcome to the revolution."
❁ STORY
To say Xehr was born into servitude would be kind. Rather, she was born into an underclass used for labour and neglected by those who demanded their obedience. Poor, and without the opportunity to rise up, fight back, Xehr’s people were resigned to their lives. Xehr was not. She is filled with a fire and her magic was more concentrated than anyone expected. And when the opportunity to escape presented itself, Xehr seized it. Her kith and kin were not so lucky. She swore she would return for them, swore no one else would live this way. But few listen. Xehr found a world indifferent to the goings on of a small clan and its self-appointed emperor. She has spent her life looking for those who might offer aid, who might be able to storm through and turn the tables. When she found them, however, they were not what she expected. Venin is quiet and thoughtful, not prone to leap into action and his consideration of her dilemma frustrated her. All Xehr needs is someone with the power to put a stop to these things. But Venin didn’t like to interfere despite sympathising with her and her clan. So when Venin did finally help pull down the shadow emperor holding her home region in an iron fist, it wasn’t what she expected. And the dragons she’d intended to help did not react how she’d thought. Not that she’d hoped for adulation, but she’d thought maybe they would have a little more drive in them. But change can be terrifying, and instead of reclaiming their lands, they scattered to other clans. Of her family there was no sign. It’s unclear why Xehr elected to stay in the Reliquary when she butts heads with Venin any time the two share a room, but perhaps it’s that she was welcomed. Perhaps Seven and her close call with slavery softened her, she is the only dragon with whom Xehr isn’t filled with barely veiled hostility. Or perhaps it was the quiet fury expressed by Zayida when she heard about what happened to her family and the knowledge that, if nothing else, Xehr had at least one dragon on her side. Perhaps it was Osprey’s kindness that took root in the walls carefully constructed around her heart until they crumbled. She has kindred spirits here. And if nothing else her fists will help them. And maybe they can even help her find peace. ❁ OTHER
