When Wicked first met Pyxis, he was trying to steal some food. When Pyxis first met Wicked, he was also introduced to the brutish thugs of the Warmonger’s hunting him down. In a panic, Pyxis flicked poison at their assailants and Wicked grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, hauled him through his pocket dimension and deposited him on a rooftop half a city away. Pyxis promptly lost his lunch. And despite the prospective theft and grisly end, that’s the exact sort of kiln in which fast friendships are fired.

So much so, that when Blacklight decided to rescue Pyxis from the gutter they lived in, Wicked didn’t even hesitate before demanding to go with. Ever since it’s been not one without the other. Wicked capable of beating a hasty retreat and Pyxis able to throw some punches should a situation escalate a little too much. And they are very good at escalating situations.

Since arriving in the canyon, Wicked has been the exact child Inerri has dreaded most: a perfect, mischievous blend of Bereave and Chevron. Naturally, they adore him. With a seemingly equal depth of skill in both shadowy concealment arts and the light-blessed illusions, Wicked is an awful difficult child to keep track of. Something Bereave and Chevron take exceptional delight in. And he thinks they are the coolest! Actual adults who play pranks and steal stuff for a living! Goals, right there. And the clan has an honest to gods pirate! Wicked fawns a little whenever Kairos and Jaelyr are in port, one day he’s gonna go with them on an adventure and be a terror of the seas!

A cheerful lad, there’s almost nothing in his eyes to suggest what his past holds; yet sometimes he’s caught in the Lodge - a more serious expression on his usually beaming face and his hands pressed anxiously to his pearl - asking after any news from the old ruins of his home. When word arrived that the Warmonger had picked a fight with someone he couldn’t beat and the town had been levelled in the conflict, he held out hope that maybe his family had made it. But when Tahvi returned from an adventure in the area it wasn’t bearing good news.

That’s okay though, he didn’t know his parents well. They did the best they could to give him a shot at being worthwhile, at living a life that meant something. And he has friends and family now who look out for him. He thinks that’d make his mum happy.

ORIGIN / Born in a dustbowl town in the heart of the shattered plain, Wicked’s clan was a collection of unmemorable and unremarkable dragons. They lived under the thumb of a ruthless warlord, a broad, hulking guardian who had any blessed with magical gifts shipped across the strait to the Starwood Strand. He made money selling children into slavery and the clan had no way to fight back. Wicked’s mother, a quick thinking dragon who knew that her life was to run its course in the middle of the parched desert, told him to run. Run as fast and as far as he could. And when he was captured, he found other ways to disappear.

Fact / His portalling is different to classic teleportation and the way Venin and Xehr shadowstep. Rather than proper teleportation (where he disappears from one location to instantly reappear in another), Wicked makes use of a sort of pocket dimension. He slips from this plane of existence into his private one and there the distance between locations is warped, allowing him to move more quickly from place to place.

Likes / A good game, although Wicked is capable and willing to use illusions to cheat. He also possess one hell of a sweet tooth; the pastries Inerri makes and rock candies imported from elsewhere in the region must be kept out of his reach at all times. No easy feat when he can warp through space.

Dislikes / Thinking about his birth family. And also any mention of selling others into slavery. He is intensely claustrophobic, which isn’t usually a worry for him being able to warp out of most places at whim, but there are some restraints out there that inhibit magic. Those give him nightmares.

Interests / A true trickster at heart, Wicked has been learning sleight of hand. Card tricks and pulling things from behind ears or sleeves or hats all are good fun. Marva is his actual hero, one day he wants to be a famous magician just like her.
