STORY
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

A bright and outgoing child, Crossfire was one of the first hatchlings the clan raised. Despite being quite extroverted, his was a different sort of sociable to Bereave’s, a softer more sharing type. He was a considerate youth, always thinking about others; helping Inerri out whenever he could and spending time with shy Seven. This never changed as he grew. His well-spoken, mild-mannered disposition became the perfect foundation for an ambassador.

Not something he always dreamed of doing, Crossfire finds real satisfaction in knowing that he is much of the reason for the clan’s lasting peaceful relations with others. Polite and charming and never without a brilliant smile, Cross makes an excellent first impression, and not just for himself but for the whole clan (something they can use when other members of the lair are such trouble makers). Initially, he only greeted guests, but then began interacting with clans far away and eventually Beastclans (post the first peace settlements) were included. He and Feldspar spend quite a bit of time discussing their respective jobs and the requirements they have to meet; and Seven took up the responsibility of acting as the clan’s hostess. When Crossfire is travelling he typically takes a guard with, Ravelin predominantly, since Skye left, as he’s pacifistic in nature. He didn’t see the need for protection originally, but Venin insisted, and it has since proven to be invaluable.

Skilled with words, as an ambassador should be, Crossfire is level-headed and during Assembly meetings, is frequently the voice of reason. He has never been seen angry, not truly, but he does get visibly frustrated and exasperated. Quick with snappy witticisms and the occasional waspish retort, Crossfire’s ability to be snarky is one of the least expected of his traits. The other is his rather fatalistic view of some situations. While ostensibly a shining optimistic ray of hope, Crossfire never goes into a situation expecting it will be easy. His ability to conjure up the worst case scenarios and ways to handle them are somewhat at odds with how he projects himself but no less useful for that.

Always polite and kind, Crossfire is hard not to like and consequently most in the lair consider him a friend or an older brother in some cases. When he’s not on official Reliquary business, he’s being the best father the clan has ever seen, raising Ji Qeng with patience and warm smiles, assisting Inerri with other hatchlings. He carries large loads for Pencil and Helix or as a mentor for others. One of the largest dragons in the lair, Crossfire looks quite imposing at first glance and since he spends much of his time at the Assembly, is one of the first dragons visitors meet. It sometimes takes a moment for them to realise he’s actually a giant softy.

OTHER
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ORIGIN / In the Icefields to the far south, he was born to an important dragon in an important clan. He remembers very little of his time there, recalls only that when he realised he didn’t know where his home was, that he would set out to find the lands his kind come from: the glittering halls of the Sunbeam Ruins. (It can be a dark and dangerous world, his journey could’ve been much worse.) He never did make it, but he found a family anyway. They spent the first few months waiting for his irate parents to arrive and drag him home but they never did. Cross didn’t seem to mind that they probably hadn’t looked for him, or thought him dead. He was merely glad to find a place to call home.

Fact / Crossfire is the placid, gentle giant of the clan, always calm and smiling and kind. He would never lift a claw to hurt someone. His familiar, Ceol, on the other hand, is a cantankerous, nasty bird who only ever seems to be peaceful around Cross (or Seven). Ceol generally sits in Crossfire’s horns and accompanies him almost everywhere. It’s widely considered that Ceol is his primary protector.

Likes / Birds are his greatest passion, he enjoys spending his lazy afternoons perched somewhere warm and sunny, listening to them sing. Preferably with Seven’s company. Since moving to their new lair, he’s found himself fond of afternoon walks along the beach and watching the sun set over the blue horizon.

Dislikes / He won’t eat birds. Not ever. Sometimes the hunters bring them back but Cross always attempts to ‘rescue’ them and keep them in his aviary (or release them). Typically speaking he enjoys his position as ambassador, but often he finds himself negotiating with truly obstinate dragons and them he can’t stand.

Interests / He gets up early every morning to watch the sun rise and whistle with the birds as they sing. He also dotes on his son, they swap stories about folks they’ve dealt with and Cross always does his best to teach Ji Qeng something useful. He helps Inerri out a lot in the hatchery, often he can be found letting them clamber on him as he tries to teach them things.
