Dragon Log
Born to a pair of dragons who many of the Clan thought would never get together, she has long been anticipated by her father…and is very much loved by her mother, as well. Like her siblings, this dragon has both an extremely unique personality, and an extremely strong magic, that began to show itself almost at once. In her case, she was attracted to the Armory almost from birth, and seems to pick up battle tactics almost without thinking about it.
She is not limited to fighting, however. This dragon loves games of all types, even those that do not seem to involve any strategy at all. As a result, she is already a great favorite among both the more athletic and the more playful dragons of the lair, as she is always ready and willing to play any game, any time, regardless of what she was doing a few minutes beforehand. This does make it difficult to for her to complete the daily tasks of Clan life, but perhaps she will grow more focused on things other than games as she grows older. The Clan can hope…
7-16-18: Loo’s magic seems to be manifesting as quickly as that of her sisters and brother, and it is a fascinating process to watch. She has only to observe a battle move once, whether a physical attack or a magical one, and she instantly knows how to perform that move herself. She does not, however, necessarily know when to perform the move during any particular fight or game, in order to get the best possible results for a win. As a result, her fighting and gaming practice is an exercise in both amusement and astonishment for both the fighting and game-oriented dragons of the Clan—and many of the Coli dragons are already wondering if they can incorporate her into their team, once she has been given the strategic training to go with her physical—and magical—ability…
10-28-18: While fighting and games are important to her, Lughnasadh does seem to have developed the ability to do other thing as she grows older. This is a bit of a relief to the Clan, who had feared that her obsession would cause problems in the lair. It is also a relief to Macha, her Tengu Caller familiar, who had begun to think that her attempts to bond with her dragon would never work. Fortunately, after a somewhat slow start, Loo seems to have decided that bonding time with a familiar counts as another form of game, and has begun to focus much more on the poor Tengu. So much so, that Macha has Awakened at last! Loo is happy for her friend's new maturity--it will make their games and fighting practice much more interesting, after all--and the Clan is happy as well, as Macha's success has shown Duskshadow how to handle this unusual member of her extended family: just turn everything into a game!
Now whenever the Clan needs Loo to take her turn Gathering food or cleaning the caves, the Clan Mother makes it a contest among several dragons, and not only is Loo eager to begin, she invariably "wins" every time! Of course, her constant successes are leading to some jealousy among the more competitive dragons, but at least now the hoard is always well-stocked, and the caves have never looked better....
1-30-19: With such an interest in Gaming, it was almost inevitable that Loo would be drawn to the Sornieth Winter Games. Unfortunately, unlike the previous time a team from this Clan took to the ice, the rest of this team wasn't nearly as well-suited to the task they were chosen for…. ( )
2-8-19: Whether or not the previous team Captain had had problems with her group, Loo continued to have problems with her own all the way up until the start of the game. Fortunately, the vendor of the destroyed tent was mollified by a generous donation of treasure and a new tent, courtesy of Duskfire. Fixing the team was nowhere near as easy. In the end, Loo did manage to convince DonQuixote to leave the sword and horse behind, and she even got Beeblebrox to agree that it would be a good idea if he actually caught a few pucks. But even these small victories were not enough, and ultimately the team lost the "war," and had to watch another group walk away with the medal.
The experience was rather humbling for the Clan's games prodigy, and Loo has decided that she needs to work much harder on winning without magic, as it is clear that she has come to rely far too much on her talent, and not enough on instinct. No matter. She has all year to fix the problem before the next game...
6-7-19: To the shock of the entire Clan--including Lughnasadh herself--the Clan’s Gaming Champion has suddenly acquired several new, illusionary accessories, in the wake of the strange magical surge that recently swept through the lair. Considering that Loo is a dragon focused on winning games and battles, the sudden appearance of a Contaminated Halo is not that surprising, as Plague does after all, embody fighters. But the Summer Swelter that appeared at the same time has everyone stumped. Perhaps there is another side to Loo’s magic no one has suspected? She is, after all, a dragon of the “between times.” Maybe the pollen has something to do with a changing season? She does seem to be stronger magically around Midsummer than at any other time….
8-30-19: Loo appears to be extremely attracted to pollen lately, with some very odd results. During a trip to the Ashfall Waste for the Flameforger’s Festival, she and Imbolc engaged in a fierce game of Ember Toss, and ended up with a collection of extraordinary “Fire Seeds” contained in special bottles. ( ) What, precisely, she intends to do with these new trophies is a little hard to fathom, but it will no doubt become clearer with time.
In the meantime, the Clan is watching Loo’s antics with her new Embear Armor Pauldrons, also acquired at the same Event ( ), with great interest. Perhaps the Gaming Dragon has finally decided to try her luck in the Coli…
1-30-20: Loo has, in fact, considered venturing into the Coli, but she has put that aside for the moment in favor of leading the Clan’s Ice Hockey Team in another attempt at a medal in the Crystalline Gala Sornieth Winter Games. There has been a slight set-back this year, however, as the team competing is not the team that was originally chosen ( ). All the same, Loo has some hope of victory, if the team can just remember to work together…
2-2-20: After the mess back at the Lair, it is almost a relief for all those who competed in the Winter Games this year to indulge in the (relatively) simple task of breaking down camp while waiting for their results… ( )
2-7-20: Despite the Gaming Dragon’s hopes, it was not meant to be. The team was overwhelmed in the third round, and ended up finishing in the middle of the lists. Still, it was not a complete disaster. Perhaps next year will be better…
5-24-20: Loo went to the Greenskeeper Gathering this year, lured by the promise of a Gaming Convention. On the very first day she was attracted by a curious Window in one of the Convention building walls. The Window appeared to actually move, and the longer Loo stared at it, the more she found herself thinking of her love of games… ( )
6-22-21: Loo got a pleasant surprise today, when "Estival," the Clan's Summer Sphinx, decided to check her out. Within minutes the usually aloof creature had initiated a familiar bond! Perhaps she sensed a kindred spirit in the Guardian? Whatever the reason, the Wary Sphinx seems to be warming up to her very fast indeed...
9-17-21: Estival has Awakened! Loo is extremely happy for her friend. The Sphinx seems equally content as she strides through the cave, flexing her powerful legs. But she also seems a bit...tired...for an Awakened familiar. Perhaps the colder days are affecting her more, now that she is a full adult? It is almost time for Summer to end, after all...
