"καλωσόρισμα, ስለተዋወቅን ደስ ብሎኛል, Моля те остани, મિત્રો બનાવો"

OgTZsBA.gif When Freud stumbled upon a massive ruin during one of his "adventures", Dii had become much too thrilled to contain herself.

"Freud, my dear. Please, tell me where these ruins were located. I must have a taste of this excitement," she implored him. Freud, eager to please his friend yet much too nervous for her safety, replied sternly, "You know I'd love to have you tag along honey, I really would. But the walls were already tumbling over, I couldn't bear to take that risk of having you there, in the wrong spot, at the wrong time. But I'll bring you somethin' back for your collection, promise."

Dii had frustratingly agreed to her fellow clansman to stay at home, she knew that his words were entirely true. She was much too fragile, and he had been born to handle the harshness that this raiding could bring. She trusted his word. And when night fell over the lair, she awoke with a gentle tapping on her door. Freud had returned, covered in dust and dirt, a look of worry and exhaustion plastered on his face.

"I told you I'd bring something back for you," he panted out, "but you're not gonna believe what it is." In his hands he held a bundle of ancient fabrics and linen, and upon his eager unwrapping he exposed a softly glowing egg, golden and shimmering. The shell had imprints carved into it in a dark ink of strange symbols she had never seen before.

"Where did you-" she began to ask, as she unhanded him of the treasure, and he spoke quickly, "On an altar. It was just sittin' there in a beacon of sun. But the whole room was falling apart, it was either stuff my pockets with all the coin lying around or take this thing."

"You were wise, Freud," she commended him, "But I fear that this little one is losing time." She rested her hand on the shell, and her fear grew true; the warmth it radiated had already started growing frigid in such a short amount of time. Freud stood nearby, a confusing amount of concern built in his gut for the strange egg he rescued. He tried to shake it off.

"What if I wasn't supposed to take it," he blurted out, watching as Dii set the bundle on her altar and surrounded it with various materials and herbs. She shook her head, almost violently, as she looked back to him, "It wouldn't have beckoned to you. I know your mind, glittering gold and precious metals would win your favor more than a simple egg stood atop a crumbling altar."

He would have taken offense if she weren't correct, and instead nodded back to her, "You're right. Maybe. I dunno." He crossed his arms and watched as a soft ray of light bathed the golden egg, and couldn't help but to ask, "Why do you do these rituals? What's the point?"

"The same reason you tell our leader to take in those that are rejected from their homes and their lands. I understand that someone as naïve as you does not see the potential these children that are dancing so close to death's edge have. It is difficult for anyone to truly see. The fact that it has not died yet, should be enough to prove that they have far more worth than even you or I have." She began to pat oils over the egg's surface, and it started to sway back and forth, absorbing the liquid through the carvings in it's shell. Dii smiled, and gazed back to Freud, who had been mesmerized by the reaction of Dii's magicks and hadn't removed his eyes from the now moving egg.

"Now you see the extent of my gift. Even an egg trapped in a cage for an eon can be given a chance to exist in this world, if it has the will to overcome the impossible."

Freud stood in the doorway, unable to speak. A newfound respect for his fellow clanswoman grew inside of him, and he smirked back to her. She shut her eyes and nodded to him, "I am glad you now understand. Stay if you wish, but you do not have to."

The morning came, and Freud had awoken with a blanket draped over him, his hat, coat, and blade hung on hooks near the doorway. Dii was soothingly humming near the window, a small hatchling resting quietly in her hands. She delicately caressed the child as it nudged her hand, burrowing it's face into her palm. Freud sat up quietly, watching the two and listening intently. The child chirped and purred; the sound it made almost sounded like music, like a symphony of delicate notes and sounds that caused a sensation of warmth inside of his chest. He tilted his head as the hatchling drifted into sleep, watching as Dii pet it's head softly.

"Hail, a glorious morning to you, Freud," she greeted him, turning her head to see him sitting in the far corner, leaning far too close to the two in astonishment. His concentration broke and he had almost toppled over.

"G'morning Dii," he replied, "Is that..." She nodded to him, gazing down on the hatchling, "This is she, the queen of the cave. Her name will be Hieroglyph." He stood up and walked over to them, never unlocking his eyes from the small spiral. Her body looked as if it were made of a dark silver gemstone, the same carvings in her egg were now permanently etched into her body. Her wings matched her beautiful golden yellow eyes, with delicate patterns painted upon them. She looked divine, as if she were not meant for this world.

"It's fitting," he replied. It's all he could say at the moment. She smiled, "Her siblings will be thrilled to meet her, I'm sure."
