~The joy of hatchlings is their eagerness for games.
The game of flavour, however, is one they have quite to learn.~

Salpicar-given in Wiktionary to be the infinitive form of the Spanish term for scatter, sprinkle; scatter, splash.

Salpicar sees it that hatchlings share a love for games he can identify with. So long as the youngsters aren't there simply to ask when supper will be ready every few seconds, they are allowed to watch him while he's working. At less busy times he sometimes runs a loose class where they (and unabashed adults) may give some simple recipes a try. Some of his young fans join him on ingredient-gathering outings.

Due to his habitual humming, he is not considered the most stealthy of Shadow dragons.
Enjoys dabbling in anything tangentially related to cuisine and is known to gather bugs and plants himself. Salpicar considers himself a journeyman in culinary skill, but sees such as no impediment to seeking to create something marvellous.

Shunic thinks quite well of the Shadow Pearlcatcher, although, in the former's eagerness to help, the latter has to sternly ensure the Mirror does not simply throw in a haphazard mix, especially if he's forgotten some leather's amid it. Pako and Grass-Snout compliment the chef's work and Fayje knows full well that party-planning would be much harder without Salpicar's skills. Mintbite may hang around the kitchen on quieter days and is willing to help with any cleaning required. Inima regards Salpicar with some awe. However, he brushed off her attempts at flattery with the remark that he already had a mate.

A hunter known as Diana had joined the clan some time before Salpicar's arrival. He found the veteran to be an intimidating individual to deal with for a long period of time, but knew her for being reliable at keeping the clan supplied with meat, which was important. The Pearlcatcher paid little attention but to remember it, but it was known that she had a daughter who was travelling Sornieth to experience different ways of living at that time. Her mother received letters every festival.

Even while resting from the journey home, Saya had expressed an interest in what she might do around the lair. She first set her focus on seeing where the aesthetics of the lair might be improved. Skilled in hunting not unlike her mother, Saya could be trusted to lead her own hunting parties and generally was encouraging that everyone do their best, and that the clan would benefit from their efforts.
The first encounter between the two was around noon one day. Saya would tell hatchlings of things she knew, of her beliefs in the clan tenets, that there was always something to enjoy that would also help others. The Wildclaw was, however, less skilled at entertaining them at play. Salpicar had stepped out to take some air and found them, and so intervened to help amuse the youngsters. After that point Saya began to pay attention to the Pearlcatcher's work for the clan and came to express to him her appreciation for what he did. For Salpicar's part, he found her quirks delightful and respected her for what she did. The hatchlings certainly liked it when a redecorative project's completion was unveiled.
Between them, each in their own way the two had made the lair more...colourful.

Salpicar and Saya may not come across as the most intimate or prone to visible acts of affection. But they unquestionably trusted and respected one another, which, they decided, was what mattered the most between mates.

Pruni was the eldest of a clutch of three, who were doted on by their parents. Salpicar devoted a great deal of time to ensuring the hatchlings never knew boredom, and tried a variety of flavours as they grew up. Saya planned variation: as well as telling them what she always told hatchlings, she had sessions where they'd try a variety of activities to help them decide what they liked. Diana was proud when her daughter introduced her to her grandchildren.
The middle child went to serve the Lightweaver and sends letters talking about the public services he's done away from the frontlines. The youngest went to live with the Watchful Storm of the Windswept Plateau, allies of the Stanzascale clan.
Pruni decided to attend an academy away from home to complete his education and his parents respected his wishes.
More perceptive than most realise, Salpicar was the first to realise that Pruni wasn't saying all there was to tell in his letters. When the two reunited, he didn't chide, but merely offered ambiguous words of caution. As any Shadow Pearlcatcher knows, some words are more valuable unspoken. However, suspicious minds might fill the gaps with ideas worse than the truth.

The chef is a known face around the Black Bog Trading Post, having been a trader there before he joined the Stanzascale clan. During the Flameforger's Festival 2015, the chef picked up a rudimentary knowledge of forging.

In general, his contributions to how pleasant it is to live in the lair are no secret. Some remark a satisfaction at experiencing the delights their gathering works have been put into. Salpicar is content with his life with the clan.
