When Ender first set out to create this new clan, Timberland was the first to volunteer to help. She was his temporary mate for the first few months to get the clan kick-started, but has since drifted away from him. While they do not mate anymore, they still remain close friends, and she serves as one of his most trusted advisers. She is more talkative and outgoing than Ender, however she too has a reserved side, usually more prevalent towards larger, more intimidating dragons. She is usually the one to watch over nests to allow the parent dragons a break. While she isn't the clan's designated healer, she does know most of the basic remedies to common problems.

Timber claims not to be bothered when Ender mates with other females, but this is not the truth. She still has feelings for Ender, as she did that day when she agreed to help him start the clan. She expected to be his queen, and his lifelong mate, which is what she had always wanted. But when he started treating her as just another member of the clan, she went through a period of anger and resentment, but now she's just lonely and slightly jealous. And perhaps at times even regretful. She knows she isn't the most attractive dragon in the clan, but she hopes that perhaps one day she will be able to change her appearance in an attempt to catch Ender's eye again, and hopefully relight the flame that she believes he once felt for her.
