Depth had a peaceful life as a hatchling. He and his brothers and sisters came along very well, and he had a loving mother and father who always looked out for them all. But once they all began to age, Depth started to behave strangely and more aggressive than the rest of his family. He soon grew teeth in rows sharp as nails, his eyes got dark and lifeless, claws that had webbing and he never learned to speak the common tongue. It was almost like he couldn't understand anything common at all. And he shared no empathy. Taking his own father's life from a small misunderstanding and the family was never the same again, they did no longer see him as a dragon, but a horrifying creature from the depths.

Every dragon in the shattered family shunned him in fear of their lives, until finally one day a witch came across the sorrowful family's den and promised them they would never have to see the lost son again. With that said, she left to find and confront the beast who lured in the depths not far away. As the monster emerged from the waters, annoyed by the dragon who awoke him from his slumber, he launched right at her. But before he could even touch the ground, the witch cast a bright light from her crooked staff that made his skin hard as stone and he could no longer move or feel anything. With a loud thump, the now inanimate sea monster landed in front of the witch dragon.
He got shipped of at dusk to cross the far sea to never be seen again.
But that ship never reached it's destination.

Passing of time, centuries passed as the dragons all died out and became history, legends, myths, and humans now ruled the earth. But the deepest waters remained untouched. When a group of divers went deeper than any human before, they found a gigantic shipwreck that seemed to be built thousands of years ago and possibly more. It was no ordinary ship as they found huge claw marks all over the deck, odd paintings and many other things. But strangest of all was this big statue of an unknown creature. It was big as a shark, but looked nothing like anything humanity had seen before. Being worth millions in the right hands, they decided to take it back up to the surface. As soon as they got the statue up on their ship the stone cracked, then exploded as the dragon was gasping for breath. The humans fled in terror of the beast as it's teeth alone was scary enough. As quickly as it all happened, the dragon dashed right back into the water and swam far, far away.

The open ocean was far bigger than this dragon had ever seen before. Seeing all this, the fish and all unfamiliar creatures made something snap in his mind. His eyes turning from lifeless black to a deep blue, he could for the first time feel. It was like he was born anew. With this joy he swam for long distances, discovering new things and beings. But he kept far away from the water surface, he did not want to go back to the place he grew up. The waters was his home now, and he felt so free and alive swimming along with his own kind, the Thresher sharks.

History is a thing in the past, and it must never be forgotten. Depth, he kept on living for even more centuries to come. But no mater how far away he was, or how many years have passed, he could never forget that face of the dragon he gutted alive as a youngling.
