Crispin takes great pride in being a first-generation from the shadow flight, though he's technically never lived in the Tangled Wood. His egg was found by a pack of nightsky fuiran, and as a hatchling he imprinted and adopted their diet and mannerisms, making him seem, upon first impression, far more savage than he actually is. Despite this, he has an innate proficiency in deception, stage magic, and sleight-of-hand which helps him fit in with his flight.
