━━━━ In Depth ━━━━
Extroverted | Quiet | Solemn Personality; If there you were to ask three different people to describe Jasper, you’d likely get three different responses. It’s a very rare occasion when he’s his own self around people, needing to build a lot of trust before he drops his fake personality and introduces people to the ‘real’ Jasper, that in itself a confusion. While Jasper is comfortable around people, he’s likely to be quieter than with his pretences, and although he never has ill intentions towards good people, he's not particularly good at making them comfortable. Outside of his con work he’s quiet and collected, easily invested in hobbies that take up most of his time and focus. Talking isn't his strong point, but for people he's close to he can talk comfortably for as long as needed- he's a quiet extrovert, and prefers to spend time with others to recharge even if he works better alone. To him, alone time is time to work on whatever new scam or idea he has in mind, while spending time with others is relaxing. In his work however, Jasper’s mastered the art of pretending to be social. It may make him uncomfortable, but it’s a necessary evil. Generally, if he’s talking a lot and you don’t know him too well, he’s in the process of ‘getting into character.’ You may find some of your funds missing in the future. History - D&D; Jasper was raised by his uncle from the age of five, an amiable man who taught him everything he knew. Despite being a known criminal, he insisted on looking after those who needed it and taught Jasper the same principles. Together they’d travel to rich neighbourhoods and use elaborate tricks to part the rich with their money, from sham sales to fake identities. The older he got the more roles he played, and he became proficient at most forms of deception. While his uncle varied his cons regularly Jasper always preferred to aim high and lie low, disguising himself as long lost heirs to recently deceased lords and rich nobles looking to marry within his circle, leaving with as much as he could get away with as soon as possible. When he started to branch off on his own, he taught himself as much history of the noble families as he was able. Using this information he’d weave stories about surviving heirs to a long dead family, preparing himself in advance for his next plan by spreading word of a great duke that he’d met in his travels. Passing these small bits of information onto wealthy merchants gave his stories a good platform to spread among the rich, quickly gaining popularity as the next interesting rumour to distribute- Once these were in place, all he had to do was come up with a disguise and play his part. Despite his dubious profession, he always stuck by his morals and would often help and give money to the poorest he came across as long as they seemed like good people. A little hypocritically, he won’t give money to other thieves and charlatans no matter how in need they are of the cash, considering it something that good people shouldn't be doing. |

I insinuate myself into people’s lives to prey on their weakness and secure their fortunes.
Sarcasm and insults are my weapons of choice.
Friendship. Material goods come and go. Bonds of friendship last forever.
I swindled and ruined a person who didn’t deserve it.
I seek to atone for my misdeeds but might never be able to forgive myself.
I can’t resist swindling people who are more powerful than me.
