B I O G R A P H Y

Iceblossom is very nearly always cool and composed. She prides herself on being the leader of a strong clan that can help weaker dragons when needed. She has always lived in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, but only with the help of her mate, Tidepool, could she begin to build a clan. She and Tidepool balance each other; he keeps her from getting too serious, and she keeps him from being so ridiculous that he drives away all other dragons.

Iceblossom is not the strongest of fighters, with magic or talons, but she is always there to help her clan when she is needed, and she is an excellent leader. She may not be the most compassionate dragon, but she makes up for it with her clear head during emergencies. Iceblossom’s many offspring have helped to make the clan stronger, before moving on to help the Tidelord.

Beginnings
Iceblossom's parents belonged to another clan living in the very depths of the Sea, guarding the Tidelord from harm. As a hatchling, she was remarkably different, a dreamer and optimist who loved the idea of fantasy and the world beyond her own, within her imagination. But even when she was young, it was her greatest dream to grow up just like her parents, defending the leader of the Water flight, a fearsome warrior. It never even occurred to her to leave her clan, so loyal was she to her ideals.

That is, she lived this way until she met a young, goofy, yet inexplicably charming fae dragon named Tidepool. She had never expected to fall in love with someone from another clan, but she was head over heels for him. Tidepool spoke of other parts of the Sea of a Thousand Currents that Iceblossom had only heard tales of, and he even had stories of other flights. But Tidepool was only passing through the area, to Iceblossom's dismay. His home was in the Tsunami Flats, far from the Spiral Keep. In the few days that she had before Tidepool left her, Iceblossom tried to prepare herself, but wound up feeling more and more depressed with each effort to steel herself. Finally, just before Tidepool left, Iceblossom announced that she would be leaving with him. But her clan, and even her parents, thought it a foolish move. They told her so, and warned her of all the things that could go wrong. When their arguments failed to away her, her clan tried to keep her prisoner in their lair until Tidepool left. She waited until nightfall and, when even the guard at the entrance to her cave had at last dozed off near dawn, left quickly, bringing almost nothing with her. She managed to catch up with Tidepool, but her clan's and parents' resistance to her decisions left their mark, and she wasnt the same afterwards, changing as she grew into a mature adult. Tidepool stayed with her nevertheless, and even though he knew she might never be the same dragon again, he was willing to accept that fact.

Great Changes
Iceblossom held the coat in both talons, stretched out in front of her. It felt heavy to her, but probably only because she was unused to wearing such apparel. She was standing in the darkness of a cave at the edge of the Water flight’s territory, where the clan had stopped to take a quick breather for the sake of smaller members and those who were less able to fly long distances. Iceblossom had decided to take advantage of the time as a way to change her apparel.

She had planned on changing what she wore specifically for the occasion of the move to the Fire flight. But the symbolism was a little painful. She had worn her cape, simple, made of netlike knotted ropes and seashells, for a long time. The three fingers of her left foretalon brushed the largest shell for a moment; smooth, cool, and a reminder of her home flight. She closed her eyes for the briefest of moments and unclasped the cape, setting it down on the floor of the cave. And then, her face a mask, Iceblossom donned the aviator coat, crimson, black, and white. Fitting for a leader, she felt. Fitting for her new home. Fitting for her.

Taking her cape and stowing it away, she turned and left the cave, ready for the change to come.
