Biography

Am gonna redo all this at some point, it's all old and horrible and too long and not worth reading lmao

Octavia
~ Oc-tah-vee-uh ~
"The Drowned"

Hailing from the Arcane flight, although some may say that she must have some Water flight in her blood. Octavia never took much interest in the stars up above, nor the magic deeply embedded in Sornieth's lands. Instead, her focus was drawn to the mysterious waters of the unexplored ocean, much of which the Ice flight claims as their own. Despite that, she still felt the need to one day set sail and chart the depths.

That day eventually did come. Piloting a vessel stocked with many of the Arcane flight's specialized tools to measure and record information, Octavia set out on her dream to venture the open waters. She had a small crew to help her on her travels, many being dragons who had similar dreams to her. Frequently she was required to transmit information back to the mainland, both to record her research and to monitor her location and activity. She loved it. From the salty sea-breeze to the waves crashing against the hull of the ship—it all felt like home. She would give anything to stay out on the water forever.
After a couple months of research, Octavia was shaken awake by one of her crew members. Instead of a shocking discovery of what lay underneath, the crew had instead spotted another ship in the far-off distance. Octavia was concerned. The Arcane flight was not the only flight interested in exploring the waters; the Lighting and Wind flights occasionally sent out ships to serve their own purposes. There was a chance that the ship could be a Lightning vessel, one of the most hostile flights to the Arcane flight. Thinking for a short while, Octavia commanded to her crew that they were to continue their research and not to be bothered by the ship unless it appeared to be approaching.

The ship grew nearer, and Octavia made the decision to hold her ground. If it was in fact a Lightning ship, then hopefully they could make it by them without any serious conflict. However, her worries grew stronger as the dark sails of the ship bore no symbol to proclaim their flight allegiance. Eventually, the other ship stopped advancing. Octavia and her crew watched it slowly turn, bearing it's starboard side to her vessel.

She was the first one to realize what was going on, but it was much too late. She stood frozen in place, the frantic screams and shouts of her crew-mates muffled by her own heartbeat. He eyes stayed glued to the foreign ship, paying no attention to the hysteria surrounding her. She could feel dragons pulling at her legs trying to move her, trying to evacuate the ship, but she was unresponsive. Dots that she saw in the distance grew larger; cannonballs were hurtling towards her vessel. Impact after impact, the tremors rocked the ship, snapping Octavia back into reality. Most of her crew had made it to the evacuation boats, but she was doubtful that the attacking ship would let them flee. She had to make a decision, fast.

She turned, facing towards the back of the ship. Debris and shrapnel littered what was left of the deck, as large chunks of the wood had been taken out by the cannonballs. The water was quickly rising, and Octavia stumbled her way to the end of the ship. Lifting herself up onto the railing, she took a deep breath and dived into the water below. The cold shock almost made her lose her breath, as did the sight of her ship, exploration instruments, and a few of her crew sinking slowly into the dark depths of the water. Afraid of the other ship finding her, she used her wings to submerge herself further down under the surface. It quickly became tiring however, as the weight of the water was much more than the air she normally flew in. The shock from the events that had just transpired started to set in as well, and she already felt the need to surface for air. Using the last bit of her energy, then propelled herself upwards towards a few broken planks, leveraging herself up onto them. Gasping, Octavia draped herself over the planks, drifting into unconsciousness.

The creaking of wood eventually woke Octavia from her slumber. She opened her eyes and saw only a wall of planks, the dim light barely illuminating the wood grain. It took her a minute to remember what had happened, and she became distraught for her fallen crew. She had no idea where she was, and after calming down she carefully turned her head to glance around. She deduced that she was on a ship at the very least. There were two other bodies in the room with here, neither of them seemed to be awake. Octavia's heart jumped as she recognized them, feeling better that at least two of her crew-mates made it out alive.
The door to the room shifted, then swung open. A wildclaw strode in, adorned in trinkets and battered clothing. They bore scars on their tail, and a few of their horns were chipped or broken. Upon noticing Octavia's alertness, they ordered her to get up. She didn't notice until then that she was chained around one of her legs. The wildclaw crouched down, detached the chain from the wall, and pulled Octavia with them as they traveled up to the deck. They passed a number of other dragons, all of them looking just as grungy as the wildclaw. Octavia had an inkling of an idea, and her suspicions were confirmed as the caught sight of the sails after emerging onto the deck.

Blending in with the black sky, the same dark sails blew above her head as they did while attacking her vessel. Fear gripped her chest, sending her mind into a spiral. Slowly, she was dragged along by the wildclaw to the back of the ship, their intentions unknown. The wildclaw stopped walking at some point, but Octavia was lost in thought, nearly bumping into them. Glancing up, a large bogsneak loomed above her, his face lacerated with scars. His clothing told her that he was the captain, the one who ordered her ship's destruction. CbjgOFJ.png

- Higher ranking dragons are to be executed
- Learns of fate, struggles and manages to escape with a handful of her crew
- Captain doesn't make it, first to be killed
- She takes it into her own hands to rebuild a crew and recruit dragons while laying low
- Resides in clans, offering them protection and money and threatens them in exchange for recruits
- Nickname "The Drowned" because her past life "drowned" at sea and is long gone
