Rubatosis
n. the unsettling awareness of your own heartbeat, whose tenuous muscular throbbing feels less like a metronome than a nervous ditty your heart is tapping to itself, the kind that people compulsively hum or sing while walking in complete darkness, as if to casually remind the outside world, I’m here, I’m here, I’m here.

As the first completed work of Silience's and Ambedo, Rubatosis spent a lot of time alone.

Unable to speak or vocalize any sound, neither of their creators were able to communicate with Rubatosis. The first days were filled with awkward avoidance on both parties, and mumbled excuses on Ambedo's and Silience's. Eventually, Rubatosis took the hint and vanished.

Through the years, the clan has rarely seen them, and never heard them move.

Rubatosis stays close to the main caves of the Sanctuary, but manages to predominately elude the others. Often, from the corner of the eye, they appears to be part of the sprawl of rock formations that decorate the caverns, standing stock-still are unmoving.

Only a few have actually seen them in the process of traveling from one place to another, and they say Rubatosis' footfalls make no sound at all.

Without much draconic company, Rubatosis has added carving to their routine of prowling through the caves.

There are roughly a dozen unfinished statues that can be found, seeming to step out of the walls and ground. They are avian in nature, with reaching, long talons and decorative wings. And slowly, while no one watches, the statues become more and more complete, until the feather shafts and eyes are finished in perfect detail.

And in the next hours, they leave the stone they were carved from.
There are hundreds now. Everywhere.

In the caves, standing at the entrance, above ground.

Just standing, weapons drawn.

Upon observation, they do not move, just like their master. But the next day, they shift positions, taking various vantage points as if to watch the landscape.

Considering the other residents of the Sanctuary, this . . . army isn't too strange. Rubatosis seems proud of them, at least. Privately, they are proof that he exists, that he can affect the world around them.

And it certainly gives Rubatosis a certain degree of power.
