Wytai pondered this. Looked around. Examined the forest of wire and metal around her. The little 'Stormcatcher' badges on each lab coat, the 'GET BACK TO WORK' written in smaller letters underneath.

Don't you, um, work for one?, a crackling electronic voice.

They hadn't expected this. They'd programmed it with very sophisticated software for the voice, extremely accurate and able to learn vernacular on a dime. Odd how something so advanced, so beyond what they had created before, and in the first sentence it said was the word um.

Amazing, one typed into their notes.

The rest moved to the second, and arguably more important, point. Well, you see, it, some- wait, no, no, let me explain. Some would argue, and a voice interrupted to note that the 'some' indeed referred to those pretentious ontologists in building H*3, that the fact that this, ah, deity so clearly and obviously exists, capable of affecting each life, holding extraordinary power, yet seen and understood at all, proves there was no 'god' at all. Who is to say that, maybe, all hushed whispers and side glances, the Stormcatcher, the Icewarden, whoever, are not just very powerful dragons?

Wytai found the whole conversation very dreary.

In her 3.567 minutes of consciousness, she'd already decided there had to be more than arguing over the existence of some stuck up being with the ability to smite anyone they didn't like.

So, the scientists continued, not seeing their android's disinterest at all. We need you to find someone that is inexpiable, something so bizarrely, well, bizarre, that the only option is that the deities are, in fact, deities.

Wytai tilted her head. That meant confusion, if the myriad of information built into her circuitry was to be trusted.

You want me to find proof of an improvable concept to prove the immaterial. The metal voice somehow managed to sound disapproving.

Uh, yep, sounds right, was the conclusion, after multiple spreadsheets and charts were consulted.

Wytai left for her first scouting mission and never came back.
History is just so much more concrete.
