Balor was born to fight. He felt it in his blood, the blood of the first Night Warrior and his grandfather. All he wanted to do as a hatchling was fight his sibling, a smaller nocturne that he would wrestle with constantly. The moment that he could, he left the den and began fighting on his own, training to become the best Night Warrior there was. That was, of course, where the warrior met his queen.

Long ago a being entered this world. Brought to life by the being known as Arenji, the young creature spent her time on fields that had just seen great battles, roaming among the dead. It was here where Balor, early in the time of his training, found her. She was so small, so weak, he knew he had to help her. She could not protect herself... or so he thought. He lifted her onto his back and continued his quest to grow more powerful, taking the young skydancer with him. Little did he know what was in store...

The pair traveled for months together, Balor leaving the young skydancer named Morrigan hidden as he hunted for them both. He realized that, slowly but surely, he was going blind. Concerned, he consulted Morrigan, having learned of her magic ways. She said she could help him...he only had to ask. The little sky dancer had always made him nervous and now he suspected her of turning him blind, but... What other choice did he have if he ever wished to take his place as a Night Warrior?

When he awoke, he found himself to still be blind, but something else was wrong. He tried to open his eye and saw from a different perspective than he was used to. From a vantage point closer to the ground he watched as the ferns melted in his gaze. It was as though his gaze was poison, killing all in his path. "Focus," he heard Morrigan say in his mind. "Focus and you can return to your true form." Doing as told, he closed his eye and felt his feathers shifting, his bones grotesquely cracking and shifting beneath his forming scales. Within seconds he had returned to his original dragonic form, opening his shadowed eyes to gaze down at Morrigan. She now appeared to be far older than the hatchlings he had carried, an elder of sorts. No, more like a crone. A crone of war.

He gazed up and down his body, examining it. "What was I?" he inquired. "You were a death seeker. A raven of death." Morrigan grinned slyly at him, speaking in her soft, eerie voice. "Everything that falls within your ravens' eye dies." Balor nodded. He felt changed, new...more powerful than he had imagined. He was a god...a god of death with his queen, Morrigan the Crow of War beside him.

He flexed his claws, then looked at Morrigan. She had a smirk on her face that told him he was missing something. "What is it?" She chuckled. "I know how you die," she said eerily, her tone unnervingly smug. "Months after my death, a son of yours who has inherited your power will come and claim your role and powers...through killing you." Balor glared at her, knowing why she was so smug. He would have to be her protector and partner...for his own survival.
