Biography
KYRIL
Head Mediator | Wise | Intelligent | Determined | Optimistic
~~~~~~~~ |
LORE One of the oldest dragons in the clan, Kyril has been with the Suncircle and its leader, Excursio, since the beginning. Enticed by the young, charismatic Guardian and her followers, he shared her vision of creating a place where all dragons would be welcome, able to meet in harmony, trade peacefully, and share their stories with one another. Quiet and reserved, Kyril has always helped where he could, putting his heart and soul into his projects. He helped to build the Suncircle into the clan that it is, and while many of his contributions are overlooked, he has been there since the beginning, a steady presence who remembers what the Suncircle once was, and still holds out hope for what it can be. Never one for outright confrontation, when Kyril noticed the clan leader and her closest followers beginning to turn from their highest purpose, he did not raise the alarm. When Excursio began courting allies from warlike clans across Sornieth, prioritizing the training of new fighters over the spread of peace and diplomacy, Kyril quietly began tutoring the clan's hatchlings in the roots of their shared culture. When Hanyi's scientific discoveries were appropriated for newer, more sinister purposes, Kyril stocked the library with tomes about white magic, art, culture, and law. And when quarrels over trading rights began to devolve into skirmishes and fights, Kyril began studying the law himself, armoring himself in words and precedent before going to talk to Excursio. At first, the Guardian was surprised that Kyril had noticed the mounting tensions in the Suncircle when she herself had not. Then, she was outraged. Why had the Coatl stepped in to solve the problem, instead of coming to her with his concerns? Did he not trust her? "It isn't a matter of trust," Kyril said, his crest flaring with an anger that he rarely allowed himself to feel. "It's a matter of duty. Your leadership has made this clan strong and prosperous, but your policy of aggressive expansion has divided it from within. If we are to remain in balance without destroying ourselves, someone must step up. And it's going to be me." Shocked and chagrined, Excursio relented and gave over the role of mediating disputes to Kyril alone. He took up the Time-Turner's Sandglass as the official symbol of his office, signifying that all parties in a conflict, no matter their grievances, would be heard with equal weight. Since the official inception of his office, Kyril has taken on several apprentices and trained them to read, weigh, and execute the law with fairness and respect. Firm and unyielding in his convictions, he nonetheless occasionally feels the weight of his responsibilities and his oncoming age. But as long as he's around to keep the clan on the right path, Kyril will not give in to despair or resignation. He'll uphold the Suncircle's goals and ideals for as long as he's able, resolving the clan's problems one dispute at a time. | ~~~~~~ |
