Biography:
A dragon imprisoned, Godbrand is chained to the deepest, darkest hole the clan could find. The only prisoner is, in fact, Godbrand. Found too dangerous to be free but so far ethically unable and unwilling to execute him, the Elders decided upon a temporary solution, confinement. Within his cell, Godbrand is slowed by frigid chains forged by Arnskar as well as weakened magically by crystals planted to his body by one of the clan’s mages. Godbrand is kept under these weighty restraints for his crime, fratricide, for having ripped his brother apart with his magic. Marked with a variety of curse, Godbrand’s own namesake, he has been branded a ward of the Quarry to obey and be interned. Despite his reputation and his curse, Godbrand has found solace in Achaius, he who maintains the magic of the cell, and the rapport they have built. Whether this is a clever long con or if Achaius and Godbrand are truly entwined is unknown.
Godbrand was convicted of his crime but not sentenced to death by the clan's elders. Normally, a jury would have had the opportunity to sentance Godbrand, but the Elders concluded that there Godbrand would not have a fair sentencing hearing due to the outrage of his crime. Mitigating circumstances were expected to not be taken into account by the jury and so the Elders stepped in to sentence Godbrand to life imprisonment with a godbrand. Nyura, Achaius, and a few others, guard Godbrand's cell beneath the clan.
The Godbrand the prisoner holds within himself was crafted by a clan mage, whose name is withheld for reasons of ethical concern, and the curse prohibits the bearer from leaving the Quarry without the will of its creator or those permitted by the creator. As well as this binding, the Godbrand also forces truthfulness upon its bearer when willed by the creator and those permitted. The Godbrand also prevents the prisoner from actively seeking aid in its removal. This Godbrand is relatively mild compared to what could have been done instead, but there was great debate on how powerful the spell could be and not be overly cruel and unusual.
