B I O G R A P H Y
Aretha was hatched in the Windswept Plateau, to a clan of many great legends. He was inquisitive, and occasionally stuck his nose into places it didn't belong. After discovering most of the knowledge behind his clan and territory, he was tempted to leave. Driven by a quest of knowledge, as most would put it, he set out to explore the various lands of the world. He carried a scroll case with him, and wrote down as much as he could. At times, he would have too many notes to carry, and left them floating away on the breeze. It wasn't uncommon to find a scroll that read a page of his journal or the likes. Out on his journey, two mysterious Guardians, who seemed wiser beyond their years, had requested him to stay with them for a while and talk. They told him of many things; legends of great dragons. Strategies on wars. Secrets to magic. The knowledge he so desired. After he had asked them where they had gotten this information, they invited him to be the first dragon who would live in their clan. In return, they had said, Aretha would gain their knowledge and wisdom, and live a long life. After he had agreed, they took him to their clan, and pushed the task to him to design the outlay. Once they had settled, the gave him a second, longer task; record all of the events that happened. Record information on each of the dragons, on every familiar, and at last, record the legends that were passed down from mouth to mouth. |

B I O G R A P H Y
He did his job well. Aretha kept his promise well; he helped keep the clan organized, and kept the peace where fights would have broken out. After a few months, the Founders looked back upon their clan with sorrowful eyes. The had disappeared the next day. Dragons panicked, and hatchlings were scared. The religious prayed to the Eleven for forgiveness, while others said it was an ill omen. Everything was in chaos. Except for Aretha. The Founders had given him one last task; keep these dragons together. Turn this clan into a safe haven for anyone passing by. He had hesitantly agreed, and took the role of the makeshift leader until another came along to rule. e was surprised to say the least, whenever the wispy form of two dragons had appeared. The smallest breed, a Fae, and the largest breed, an Imperial. One light and one dark. The Founders had told him of them. Hesitantly, Aretha allowed them to set themselves in within the clan. Everything went to chaos from there. The scrolls he writes contains things from how many insects the hatchlings caught to the greatest heroes and legends in the clan. He writes down information about every dragon, and he mysteriously remembers to keep those in his lair, tucked away in many scroll cases. If someone has a question, he would be the one to answer it. |

CLAN LORE
1) Dragons that wear matching rings are mates. 2) Aretha works as the highest authority in the clan; Fivara is just slightly below him, and they work together as the 'leaders' of the Chessboard's Keep. With the recent return of the original leaders, the two of them now are advisers. They still hold high authority, however. 3) There is a group of warriors that protect the clan, led by the Gatekeeper. They are the ones who respond to attacks and being sent to assist an allied clan. This band of warriors is called 'The Boardkeepers'. 4) The Chess Master and Maxwell are a sort of 'higher being'. They only appear to the others as ethereal visions or in dreams, but they can choose to keep a physical form if they wish. 5) |

AUTHORITY
The Boardkeeper- The creator of a game, of sorts, that got wildly out of hand. Sundered in two, and work as the leaders of Skyreach, both out of their duty to keep order as well as serving for the forgiveness of the clan for their inability to prevent tragedy. Pure- One half of the Boardkeeper. Still does their job, but with the addition of a physical form. Aquien- One half of the Boardkeeper. Still does their job, but with the addition of a physical form. Aretha- Member #1 of the leader's committee. Decides most diplomatic decisions, including allies, enemies, relationships and how the merchants sell. Works as a scribe. Fivara- Member #2 of the leader's committee. Decides most active decisions, including when to attack and which dragons to send out in a party. Also part of the Boardkeepers, as tactician and magician. Falael- Ambassador to other realms, and is the one who communicates with outsiders and non-draconic entities that are drawn by the clan's rampant magical energies and thin walls around reality. Seisyl- Butler, with a few secret responsibilities. Tasked with taking care of visitors and newcomers. |

THE BOARDKEEPERS
The Gatekeeper- Founder and leader of the defense force. Guards the entrance to the clan. Uses defensive magic and melee. Fighting style is primarily just to keep damage off the others and on him. Fierce- Warrior of the Boardkeepers. Fighting style is full-out assault, attacks are a mix of basic ice magic and physical strikes. Saga- Warrior of the Boardkeepers. Protects the library. Mixed of magic and melee. A defensive wall-styled stance. Uses defensive magic and spells to create literal walls. Nyctari- The clan's gravekeeper, as well as the guard for said lands. Primarily a magic user. Eileen- A hunter of corrupted souls. Uses magically-enhanced weapons. Keteyu- A warrior cursed with fins. He battles in the Sea to return his body to dragonkind. Faltiaer- Borderline not a Boardkeeper, thanks to her disobeying. Respectable in combat, however, and often taunts her enemies. Depthine- Formerly the Black King, and now has taken up arms to fight with the rest of the clan. |

THE BOARDKEEPERS (cont)
Lumvita- The Paladin of Light. Fights for the truth. Lumortis- The Paladin of Sundered Light. Fights for knowledge. Shozot- A hot-headed warrior who uses her uncontrollable fire to her advantage. Enina- A warrior in training, however seems to already know how to fight. What is she training for...? Ignavis- More of moral support than anything, however he is willing to fight to protect the clan. Lavrenti- A melee brawler who enchants claw and tooth with magic to deliver a more powerful blow. |

MAGIC DIVISION
Heiskinel- Archmage. Adviser for all things magic. Goes on explorations at times. Sometimes holds classes to teach magic, to both those inside and outside the clan. Taint- Necromancer. Studies dark magic and delves deep into the lost knowledge. Does her best to use her learnings to find ways to replicate the spells, just without all the blood and sacrifices. Bloodsfire- We don't really know what he does... Just something with spirits. Majestic- Seer, touched by the gods. Isn't willing to help and is currently imprisoned beneath the clan grounds. Leona- A master of hexes and curses, and anything long-term. Yaasiel- Studier of the beyond and the eldritch beings residing within, warped by those inconceivable powers. Ohrtiel- Studier of the strange and twisted. Twisted by what he observes. Aupeiga- A field researcher, creating enchanted pages of a journal that find their true owner. Cerri- Alchemist. Accidental father to an abomination. Ereum- The child who keeps the shrines, rumored to be a spirit. |

MERCHANTS
Rot- General merchant, owning his own cart. Sells multiple products of the other clan members. Trades for interesting oddities, not primarily money. Travels. A lot. Kisai- Cafe owner and chef. Located near the border of Wind and Water. Sayriche- Merchant of illegally gotten books or forbidden tomes. His blood doesn't smell nor taste like blood... Jinx- River spirit. Sells fish and various other materials from the river. Also tries to drown people. Forleusse- River spirit. Tries to keep Jinx from drowning people. Saccharine- Takes care of departed souls, soothing their anger. Can be paid to remove vengeful spirits from lairs. Kyras- Tattoo artist. Rancor- Viewer of the dead, exorcist for hire. Leads the spirits of the dead to their resting place. Resentment- Exorcist for hire. Purges violent, malevolent spirits. Ferardin- Familiar keeper. Amahra- Dancer. Haunted by a flame. Aili- Witch, and alchemist. Sells herbs and potions and a hex every once in a while, if bribed enough. |

INFORMATION
Skyien- Explorer. Marks important landmarks. The local pick-me-up and friend maker, and often ends up recruiting new members to the clan. Murara- A scout, primarily for hostile forces. Resides in the rundown watchtowers outside the clan. Qodhouri- Reports the weather, and keeps to her den high in the floors of the lair. Her claws are always frosted over with ice. Norman- Thief. Cowl- Also thief. |

RECORDS
Aretha- The first and oldest active scribe in the clan, recording information to later be stored. Chronicle- Keeper of the library. Sorts and stores all of the clan's knowledge. The Keeper- Works with Chronicle and Aretha, storing the clan's history into the archives. Glacialis- Keeps track of names and locations, in a chilly room frosted over with ice. Plumaurum- Manages the clan's treasury, keeping track of what goes in and what comes out. Luster- Secondary treasurer, however spends her days napping instead. |
