Hunger. Malicious good cheer. An ever ready grin of teeth too many and too sharp, and merrily burning red eyes, Zeus is a predatory, battle hungry dragon whose origins are unclear, but he resides among the Pyrrhians happily, contributing by defeating many beastclan warriors in battle. He loves to fight, and his bloodlust is matched only by Persephone's.

He is also twin and rival to Mercer, he's the unchained, dark side of Alex.

No one knows where he came from or what he did before he came to the Pyrrhian clan. Any inquiries have been met with evasion and that unsettling grin full of teeth too sharp and too many. The Scarred Wasteland is a hostile place, harsh and unforgiving, and however he survived out there on his own, it couldn't have been pretty. He is dangerous, shrewdly, animalistically cunning, horribly strong, and with those watchful, burning red eyes, who can say what schemes he may scheme?

He and Merci seem very close, and it was, after all, the cold-eyed coatl who gave him his terrible new strength, the dubious 'gift' of the Blacklight Virus. Merci seems quite possessive of the hulking Ridgeback, and Zeus seems to rather enjoy the cold scientist's flares of pique when another dragon starts paying him a little too much attention. Making Merci show any emotion at all is a feat, and Zeus takes no small amount of pleasure in doing so-- for good, or ill.

After returning home with a new set of wing cuffs, the story came out that he had gotten them from a strange coatl. Merci didn't seem to like this very much, and Zeus offered to get rid of them, but Merci said that was unnecessary. The cold-eyed scientist seems to want to find this coatl, though...

January 12th, XX19

Zeus ran into a pair of dragons from another clan, a Skydancer, and a Coatl, both quite young. The Coatl was on a journey to deliver a letter from a Wildclaw, a Blacklight dragon who was Alex's son.

Zeus' aggressive nature led to tensions, which were seemingly smoothed over by the arrival of Alex himself, and the Coatl's peace offering of some wing cuffs for the Ridgeback. However, not long later, the Skydancer-- now a Ridgeback himself, and larger than Zeus-- came to the lair to challenge Zeus. Zeus, not to be outdone, enlisted the help of Amaryssa to transform himself back and forth again, and again, and again, until he was larger than the other. In the end, he didn't wind up topping Vanitas' length, but his wings did wind up bigger than Vanitas'-- and he was both still able to fly, and knew how to use his Ridgeback form; Vanitas, a born Skydancer, was inexperienced, and did not.

Before it could truly come to a real fight, however, the Clanfather roused from his deathly slumber, and intervened, breaking it up as much with how badly he startled Vanitas as with his air of command-- he had, after all, looked like nothing more than another jumbled pile of bones just inside the lair entrance... until he rose with eldritch animation and stormed out to tell them both off.

January 15th, XX19

That morning, Zeus left the lair to take a walk and think. He was kind of hoping for a fight, a way to vent his frustrations over the continuing tensions between himself and Merci, but instead... Something moved in the shadow of a bonepile, catching his baleful gaze. Thinking he'd found a Beastclan creature to take his anger out on, he went to investigate, and instead found a young Ridgeback hatchling cowering under his burning gaze, trying to make himself even smaller than he already was. And what a strange hatchling it was-- the poor fellow didn't seem to have any skin!

"Meat." Zeus said, and the little hatchling trembled even harder. "I'm gonna call you Meat." Confused, the youngling blinked at him. "Well? C'mon, you've gotta be hungry." Zeus turned, starting back for the lair, and, after a moment of confusion and relief, the little one followed in his footsteps wordlessly.
