Dragon Log

Born to AquaRegia and a strangely amorous Nocturne female, while both were visiting the Teeka Clan in Plague Flight, this young Bogsneak journeyed to the Clan on the same day as his birth, accompanied by his younger brother. The two were not destined to stay together, however: While the elder son found an instant rapport with his father’s Clan, the younger did not feel at all comfortable, and decided to travel on, to the Clan of his mother, escorted by several older siblings who also wished to make the same journey. Their parting was amicable, and the remaining little one has already settled into life in the Clan, without appearing to miss his siblings at all…

2-24-20: Barely a day after his arrival, this Bogsneak has chosen his name! He was helped in his choice by the logic of his new Sentient Alloy (a gift from his older sister Vitriola). "Azoth" suggested that since he came from AqauRegia and a golden-green mother, perhaps he should name himself after the olive-green substance created by dissolving gold in King’s Water. The baby Bogsneak loved the idea, and immediately took that name as his own: Meet AurumFulminans!

…of course, some of the Clan have found this name a bit cumbersome, and shortened it accordingly. The young one does not seem to mind, as long as all “official documents” about his “work” have his full name. For now, it’s been decided to indulge him, even though the only “work” he has done so far has been to cross the Nursery floor…

3-5-20: Aurum has now officially moved into the Potions Cave, and is busy trying to find out as much as he can about Alchemy from his “Uncle Digris,” “Mommy Cadmia’s” brother. Of course, his father told him before he left the Plague Clan of his birth that Cadmia is not really his mother, but she might be some day…and in the meantime, she does not seem to mind the nickname. Uncle Digris, on the other hand, does seem a bit…unhappy about the whole thing, but Aurum is certain that he’ll get used to it…

3-12-20: AurumFulminans is ecstatic! Uncle Digris was so impressed by his dedication to Alchemy, that the older Bogsneak has taken him on as an apprentice! Now if only Uncle Digris would be as helpful with explaining why he hates’ Aurum’s father so much, when Aurum knows that AquaRegia loves his “brother” dearly--or he would, if he wasn’t so enamored by “Mommy Amara,” Aurum’s strange Nocturne mother….

3-27-20: Today was a bit confusing for the young Bogsneak apprentice. Uncle Digris agreed to take Aurum to the Cloudsong Celebration, as a treat for how well he was doing in his apprenticeship. But somehow, the older Bogsneak did not seem to be enjoying himself at all, even when he had a chat with Ev’enfall, one of their Clanmates, who gave Aurum some much needed advice about how to move in a crowded balloon. ( , ) Oh well. Perhaps he’ll cheer up tomorrow. There’s so much to see and do here, after all…

3-28-20: After serval moons of being asked, Verdigris finally decided to answer AurumFulminans’ questions about AquaRegia, Verdigris, and Cadmia. ( ) Aurum isn’t sure, though, why Uncle Digris keeps calling himself an idiot. There’s no harm in being a little protective of one’s sisters--Aurum is very worried about Vitriola, and all the poisons she seems to like to make--but even more than that, Aurum can remember every word his father told him about why he went on a journey to Plague Flight, and AquaRegia never said a word about being driven away…

3-29-20: Aurum is still confused, but he has set that aside for now to watch the kites at the Cloudsong, as the Mistral Jamboree begins to wrap up for another year. ( ) Despite not having any Wind affinity in him at all, the young Bogsneak has thoroughly enjoyed hs adventure here. He will definitely try to come back again next year—though that might be a little difficult, now, as Uncle Digris informed him earlier today that he will begin studying fighting under Ev’enfall very shortly. Apparently, the Clan could do with a Warrior Alchemist, and Ev’enfall thinks Aurum can learn what she has to teach him. He isn’t really sure what a Warrior Alchemist is, but he’s sure he’ll learn soon enough. And some of those weapons sound like a lot of fun…

5-23-20: Despite the extra training Aurum has been receiving lately, as both an Alchemist and a Warrior, the young Bogsneak has still managed to find plenty of time to have fun, and now some of that "playtime" has paid off: "Azoth", his Sentient Alloy, has Awakened! AurumFulminans is thrilled for his friend, especially since the creature is brimming with all sorts of ideas to make Aurum's Alchemical experiments even more interesting. For some reason, though, Uncle Digris does not seem nearly as excited about the prospect of mixing certain ingredients as Aurum is. Perhaps he should talk to E'venfall? Surely a fellow Warrior would understand the need of having some unusual, potion-based weapons in the Clan's arsenal...

5-24-20: Aurum’s father has come home at last! Actually, AquaRegia came home yesterday, but AurumFulminans was in a long discussion with Ev’enfall over in the Training Grounds for most of the afternoon into the evening, so he missed all the excitement. But Aurum heard several dragons talking about it near the Healerie, so he is headed over there now to greet his father—and apparently his birth mother as well. Though he isn’t exactly sure why arriving at the Clan would cause AquaRegia and “Mommy Amara” to need to go to the Healerie, let alone be practically dragged there, if the story the young Warrior Alchemist heard is to be believed. Perhaps the Clan is worried about one of them having contracted a disease while in the Abiding Boneyard? Hopefully, if that’s the case, it won’t be too bad…

6-3-20: Aurum still isn’t certain why the Clan was making such a fuss over “Mommy Amara” and AquaRegia when they first arrived, but at least everything has settled down now. “Mommy Amara” and “Mommy Cadmia” like each other just as much as Aurum knew they would, and the young Bogsneak’s birth mother has moved into the Potions Cave, to be closer to all of them. Aurum is quite excited at this. He can’t wait to show his parents everything he has been working on, especially his special “dissolving” potion, which destroys anything it touches. For some reason, most of the Clan seems upset about that potion, but AurumFulminans is quite sure both his parents will be very impressed with his work…

6-18-20: Unfortunately, Aurum’s parents were very impressed indeed with what he has managed to accomplish with his Disintegration Potion. So impressed, in fact, that “Mommy Amara” went white, and his father, AquaRegia, didn’t seem to know how to respond right away. When he did speak, he forbade Aurum to “play” with such a dangerous concept again, except under the strictest supervision. Why is it that parents always see anything fun as dangerous? Aurum would be sulking, but Uncle Verdigris has promised to teach him some new tricks with boiling temperatures, and E’venfall is expecting him for a special lesson on projectile weaponry.

In fact, AurumFulminans has been so busy lately that he barely had time to raise a goblet in a toast to the rest of his siblings, all of whom, according to his sister Vitriola’s special “Family Scry” Potion, have found their own destinies: His sister Loki has settled in a nice Shadow Clan, his brother Skyquake is happily living in “Mommy Amara”’s old Clan, and the rest of his missing siblings have decided to go join the ranks of the Exalted serving the Lightweaver. Aurum can’t help but be impressed, even if he wishes they could have all stuck around a little longer…
