Clan Info

Welcome to the Driftwood Clan!
Lore below the info!

Quick Info:
~I am often on intermittently or at unusual times. Please be patient if I seem to have disappeared for a while.

~I don't bite and I don't mind curious messages or questions, but I don't accept random friend requests. If we've at least messaged each other before or something I might, but I won't accept if I have no idea who you are. I am also shy and a bit socially awkward.

~Dragons that I'm looking to give away/sell/etc. can be found in the "Dragons Searching for Homes" tab in my hibernal den. It's okay to poke me with offers on a dragon in that tab.

~I don't usually exalt from my own lair, but I often fodder-sell dragons that I can't find homes for on the AH, and these usually end up exalted.

~This clan gladly accepts letters from hatchlings!

Clan Lore:

The Driftwood Clan’s history began not with dragons, but with a pair of centaur refugees. There existed a herd of Dunhoof that enjoyed the trade and protection of a group of dragon clans near the perimeter of the Viridian Labyrinth, and for a while, life was stable. But this peace did not last. One early morning, a herd of warring centaurs dedicated to fighting and eliminating dragonkind laid siege on the Dunhoof traders and the small dragon clans surrounding them. Their force was numerous, prepared, and battle-hardened. The attack caused the unwary dragons and Dunhoof to either manage an escape or perish.

In the midst of the attack and confusion, a Dunhoof pair lost their son. Heavily grieving, they journeyed on deeper and deeper into the tangled branches of the inland forests to find a safe haven away from the fighting. As they searched the woods for a home, they came upon an abandoned dragon egg, still alive but left vulnerable on bare ground. Nothing would be able to replace the son they had lost, but they could not turn away from the abandoned egg. It reminded them too much of the destruction wrought upon dragons and Dunhoof alike and the allies they had to leave behind. They took the egg and traveled a little farther to a dense, secluded part of the forest, where they settled down to raise their new child.

The egg hatched into a healthy male Guardian, who they named Larimar and raised as their own. Larimar even addressed them as father and mother instead of Sorein and Larael, their given names. Larimar’s parents were proud and supportive, but they were still sad to see him off on the start of his Search when he finally came of age. They were still living alone in their secluded forest by the time of his Search and so would once again be left to themselves. Larimar secretly felt a twinge of pain to leave them behind without the protection of a clan, but he was driven to discover his purpose. He parted ways after some long goodbyes and set off on his adventure.

He traveled over great distances, searching intently for a charge. He had heard stories of the fighting between dragons and beastclans from his centaur parents, but never could he have imagined the true extent of the battles. Here and there he would discover the leftover scars of skirmishes or even nearly become a victim of ambush himself. When he made it to the Shifting Expanse, he met Ariah, a sweet but easily excitable Skydancer whom he fell in love with. He took her as his charge and swore to protect her from the fighting. Though happy with Ariah’s company, he still worried about the home he left behind. So, contrary to usual expectations, he took Ariah back home with him to establish a clan there in the safety of his secluded forest.

At first their clan was small. Larimar’s parents were surprised but excited to see that he would be making a permanent home in the forest where he grew up. It took Ariah a little time to adjust to living with centaurs, but she rapidly grew to trust and bond with them due to Sorein and Larael’s kind nature. Eventually, Larimar and Ariah adopted some stranded hatchlings lost out in the forest, and the clan began to quickly grow from there. Not only wandering dragons, but beastclans of every race began to find a place in Larimar’s lair. Creatures of every background, from unusual Serthis who ran away from their tribes out of a desire for peace to Harpies seeking to reconnect with their artistic roots to dragons who simply wandered in looking for a home, have found refuge under the protective boughs of the clan’s forest. Larimar and Ariah named it the Driftwood Clan, as the members come and go like the tides of the ocean but many remain like treasures washed up on the shore.

Now, the lair is just as much beastclan as it is dragonkind. This makes for a very diverse and lively clan, composed of patchwork of cultures and lifestyles. In their forest, they enjoy a safe haven and refuge from the hostility between dragon and beastclan so common outside its borders. This is not a perpetual state, however. Due to this highly unusual alliance, many other dragon clans view the Driftwoods as a stain against dragonkind and are hostile to its members, and most beastclans share corresponding similar sentiments. In order to protect the rare harmony and lifestyle of the clan, the Driftwoods have their own trained combatants representing every inhabitant race, which mobilize whenever a threat presents itself. While the clan has suffered some close shaves early on, its skill and numbers have grown to the point where they can defend themselves from nearly any attack. An army of dragon, Harpy, Serthis, Raptorik, Longneck, Centaur, and even Maren and trained animals all attacking as one is a formidable force. Allied dragon clans include the Walpurgisnight Clan.

Thanks! And wow, small world. :D Also just got to reading through your clan lore and gotta say, I really like it. Every time I hit the coliseum, I always feel bad that the dragons just pillage and wipe out the beast clans. Driftwood puts a twist on that.
