The port village Thorne lies along the great Cobra River, a winding and mysterious body of water that runs from the Behemoth down to the sea. Between Thorne and the sea, a powerful and boggy hectare of land known simply as The Swamp.
"Don't go to The Swamp at night," anxious mothers warn their hatchlings, "unless you want to turn into one of the lights." At night, blue wisps of light float atop the murky, deceptively deep water. Rumor has it these are the souls lost to The Swamp itself, destined now to flitter about and cause mischief as a warning to all who dare enter. Others argue they are the minions of the Goddess of Knowledge, a looming deity who makes her home among the Cyprus trees and rot.

Visit cautiously, wandering spirits. Enjoy that which Thorne has to offer, but heed the folklore murmured to you under timid breath.
