Tucked away in a forgotten corner of the Viridian Labyrinth, where the open, rolling shrublands of the Wild Sanctum give way to the Shrieking Wilds' towering, claustrophobic sprawl, there exists a little place called Haven.

Nestled snugly in the bend of the river, Haven sits beneath the protective embrace of one of the Behemoth's many offshoots, which dot the land wherever her ever-questing roots sit close enough to the surface to encourage their sprouting. The settlement might appear modest from the surface, perhaps even small, but that's because its true bulk lies deep beneath the earth, where it connects to the vast subterranean tunnel network shaped and molded around the Behemoth's roots since time immemorial.

Part village, part research-hub, Haven sits at the edge of an anomaly colloquially referred to as The Barrens; these patches of lifeless nothing, buried deep within the earth, are rare in a land as overflowing with vitality as the Labyrinth, but that makes them all the more fascinating to researchers, just as the many legends and superstitions surrounding them make for a strong deterrent for most would-be settlers.

It's said that Haven first got its name due to its position as the last "safe haven" outside the local Barren-Wastes' influence, as well as a safe place to recover for those foolish - or desperate - enough to venture into their lightless depths, and while it's grown much larger - and much more populated - since its early days as a simple outpost near the slightly creepy descent into the Root Tunnels, the spirit of community and mutual protection that gave the settlement its name is still alive and well in all those that choose to make it their home.
