INTRODUCTION AND GUIDELINES.
I've recently come into a large sum of treasure, and so I've decided to devote these funds to something that makes me incredibly happy, and that's purchasing custom character designs!
All types of character designs are accepted, whether they're anthros / furries, quads / ferals or humanoids and monsters! Fantasy races such as vampires, elves and other similar things do indeed count as humanoids.
The winners of this contest will be decided by my aesthetic attractions toward the designs, not by the amount of entries, nor by popularity. Any talent level is welcomed here! Remember, I'm judging based on my connection with the character, not by how skilled someone's drawing is.. so, whether you're a veteran artist or an inexperienced newbie, I will judge your entries all the same.
I'd like to say that any art media is appreciated here, whether it's traditional, digital, or mixed. I am not looking for a specific media, I am merely looking for quality concepts as stated above. For that reason alone, traditional and digital categories will not be segregated, as both types have equal chances of winning my heart.
All entries must be at least flat-colored, fullbody sketches. A chibi counts as a fullbody entry. You are allowed to go above and beyond in your designs, but that will not count as an extra entry. Designing multiple, separate characters will count as extra entries, however.
You may use references for your art, but do not trace! If I find out that you've traced a piece, or that you've otherwise stolen artwork in any way, I will disqualify you immediately.
NSFW content is strictly prohibited! I am not interested in 'sexy' types of art, so please refrain from that. As well, I will not accept any designs with inverted crosses or pentagrams; I don't judge anyone's religion, but I cannot see myself using a character with those themes, personally. You may include light injury in your designs, such as nose bleeds, bruises, scrapes and bandages, but please don't delve into gore or decay. Characters with healed, non-bloody amputations are accepted, because I find it incredibly distasteful and ableist to reject someone (even fictional) based on such things.
All human designs must be between the ages of 16 and 55. I can appreciate young and old characters, but that age range is my comfort zone, and I'd prefer to stay within it. All sexes, genders and orientations are welcomed. As well, all nationalities and ethnicities are appreciated with open arms. Diverse body types, heights and weights will not be discouraged, either. I do not discriminate.
How this works is simple; I will accept only certain species / breeds of animal entries in this contest, and they're all listed in the second post of this thread with pictures included as links. Two or more people may claim the same animal for their design, it doesn't matter; an animal does not become restricted after it's been picked. You also may claim more than one animal for separate entries. As well, you can choose two or more animals to create your very own hybrid concept.
In the third post, you'll find optional color schemes that I'm attracted to. You can choose one of these palettes, adjust the tints and hues, add more colors to it, or you can skip it entirely and go with your own vision; I don't mind.
In the fourth post, you'll find some concepts, traits and themes that I adore, and you're more than welcomed to use a word (or few) from that concept list as inspiration. You're also free to improvise, if you'd prefer.
In the last post, you will find the prize list, entry list, submission form and end-date for the contest. I hold the right to extend the duration of the contest, though only if there are not enough entries for judging purposes.
