The chimes tingle in the distance.
You continue your path. Will you reach your end? Will you? You begin to ponder. What if on the other side of the world, there was no place for me? You shudder at the thought, but there is no turning back. Wind howls. Branches shatter. The tangled woods welcomes you with open arms. You look back. The branches, as if by a magical force, closes in on the path, leaving you with nothing. Slowly, but surely, the sight of your home has vanished.
You take a deep breath and continue your venture. Is the clan really there? Will they accept me? Questions begin to ring in your ears as you take a step, another, and another. Echoes surround you and darkness envelops you. Did you just hear a scream in the distance? Perhaps, it was just a nightmare. A nightmare ready to swallow you. Shaking your head, you venture on.
“Where are you heading to? Young adventurer?”
You scan your surroundings, but there was no one in sight. You thought you were dreaming and was about to take another step when you sight a being before you, a beast. He flaps his wings and whispered, “Follow me.”
You follow along silently, without even daring to utter a squeak. You swiftly arrive in a small, isolated hut. He beckons for you to enter, and he follows behind you, before shutting the door. “Make yourself comfortable,” he answers as he hands you a cup of hot chocolate. “Shall we?”
It is nice seeing you, adventurer. It has been quite some time since I last saw a dragon here in the tangled woods. And… What do you think you were doing?
Well… It doesn’t matter now. Welcome to my hut, a comforting den for the lost souls. I used to write stories for a few village children, but after the destruction of our clan, I have decided that it was about time to settle down somewhere quiet, ya? Would you like a story for you too?
