When I first started using the site, I could play games and use the coliseum. Over the last several months, though, using Chrome on Windows 8 (and before that in Chrome on Windows 7), the coliseum will sometimes let me pick a team of dragons, sometimes not, but nothing else almost ever works -- it just freezes with the loading bar mostly full.
With games, I can usually play for about a minute before something goes wrong and it freezes up -- Tidal Trouble, for example, will usually let me play one round but won't ever load the second one, even as the time ticks up in the sidebar. Changing the settings between normal and alternate doesn't fix the problem.
(I have a family member with an almost identical computer, the same operating system, same wifi, same browser, whose games and coliseum work fine, so I'm not sure what's up, but I've finally given up on it going away on its own.)

For the coliseum: Did you allready try the safemode?

You could try another browser. Many users experience instability and lags before a browserchange.
Interestingly enough some users need to switch to chrome for a better result others needed to switch to FireFox and others again use less commonly used browsers like Safari, Opera and such succsessfully.

I was having serious coli lag (couldn't swap out party members for example) but switching my socket seems to have fixed the problem.[/quote] I have no idea what it means though or what a faire socket is supposed to be, but this fixed it for them.
