In Nanowrimo 2013, I started a writers' chat thread in the Wind forum with LadyRowyn. Since we left Wind last June, we've created a writers' chat here every month, to (a) meet new writers! and (b) keep in touch with all our Windy friends. (Hi Windies! We still love you all!)

Some purposes for this thread:

• Talk excitedly about your current awesome writing project!
• Whinge about your current project which no longer seems so awesome and you don't want to work on it any more but YOU WILL anyway. Because REASONS.
• Show off snippets of your writing
• Cheer your fellow writers on as they write!
• Commiserate with your fellow writers as they complain about not writing, or about not being happy with their writing
• Ask other participants to pick one of your dragons for you to write something about in the dragon's bio
• Show off dragon bios
• Admire one another's dragons and new hatchlings from time to time (because this IS Flight Rising)
• Any other writerly activities you want to chat about

"Dragon Writers" is a reference to this being a chat on a dragon site; there is no requirement that you write about dragons in order to participate. (Okay, there really aren't any requirements at all).

This is intended to be a general chat thread and not a critique group. Now, it's absolutely fine for a writer to post a link to their work and ask people for feedback and/or criticism! But it's also fine for people to post bits of their writing just to show off and with no desire to have it critiqued. And it's fine if you participate in the thread without ever sharing anything you write, or giving feedback on anyone else's writing.

Unless a writer solicits critiques, please only respond to their writing with supportive comments (or don't respond at all).

@micahjaguar They really should've bumped up the default font size a little for this prank. I am not personally offended by Comic Sans or anything but tiiiiiiiiiiiiny texxxxxxt eeeeeee.

@SadariEvenstar I ended up breeding Caius and Calliope to different dragons and saying they raise the nests together anyway, because their hatchlings are ... yeah ... kinda funny looking. If you're gonna scatter Takara, though, you should be braced to do it several times. I think Micah scattered Argos three or four times before getting colors she liked. And he wasn't paired with a specific mate. :/

If you want to know what I've been writing, I haven't really.

My big project up until now has consisted of waiting on Harper Collins to get back to me about a manuscript I submitted via a free program they had going,-evidently, when they say they can't provide feedback, that also means no goddamn rejection letter either.

And the other thing I was doing in the meantime was a satire\parody crossover with some friends on FF.Net, where we've been doing a crossover between the Inheritance Cycle and Discworld, with the intent of mocking the fanfictions that fandom produces.
There's some fanon that just requires it, especially compared to Mass Effect's fanon, which is the main fandom writing scene I lurk these days.

It sounds petty, but there're only so many fics one can read about Galbatorix's daughter, Murtagh's angst, series rewrites w/ OCs and continuations that lack either hooks to get you invested in the characters AUs or depth, without eventually wanting to scream.

And then Terry Pratchett died.

That...Kind of killed the mood.

I only recently got into Discworld, but Pratchett easily earned a spot in my Top Ten Favourite Authors list.

The big thing for me this month will be trying to get back to writing that parody.

Doesn't help that one of the scenes in the chapter we're up to involves writing Death.

He's tricky to write for.

I am summoned and I heard you way down here in the Florida Keys, sipping my chai by the pool as the sun comes up. Ahhhhh vacation much needed and deserved. And today my Camp NaNoWriMo tent goes into full on writing mode! Except for me...I am writing enough FaceBook posts about our trip to fill my quota though...does that count??? And in the Lair this week... But I got her the Spines tert with my dom discount.

ALSO BRING ME ALL YOUR YARN. It's so perfect for my clan lore, I need piles of it. Don't even care what comes out of it, I just want yarn for my sockdragons. And I may not even open the stuff unless a sockpuppet comes out of it


As for my main writing project, still working on it slowly. Life's been a chaotic mess really since december last year, and now I've been hideously social all the time with no chance to just sit down and pump out the end of this novel :|

@pixeltune Ew, that sucks. Hopefully you'll get a break with another story or another magazine.

@paintminion Where in the Florida Keyes? I suggest, if you have the time, to visit Key West. It's got Hemingway's house and the night life is so much fun.

As for me, I'm going to finish another 30 Day Challenge, then work a little on organizing all my random idea notes into one notebook instead of half a dozen small ones. Also, finish a few books. I've been bad, only finishing one last month. (I don't count audio books because of how much I'm in the car, so I go through them faster)
