HI there!
I'm Tiirran, I'm new but lurked for months so I know how the site works, and I'm going to run my Lair as a story lair. I love stories. UPDATE: Now a proper Nuzlocke!
UPDATE: New story, new Nuzlocke name!

Rules:
Dragons cannot be bought on the Auction House.

1 Egg purchase per month. Must buy cheapest no matter the Element. If more than one egg is cheapest, pick the element you don't have. CURRENTLY INACTIVE RULE.

Unhatched Eggs are exempt from the coin flip rule.

Scavenged Eggs and Coli Eggs each grant 1 Breed Change of any type. This breed change must be used within a day of the target dragon's hatching, before the dragon is introduced to the story.

NO reloading the Coli! If a battle seems too tough, flee and take the hit to energy.

Genes are tied to Coli level. Primary at lvl10, secondary at lvl15, tertiary at lvl20.

No Scatterscrolls. No matter the colours, work with what you get.

The Trading Post is a real in-game place and will make occasional appearances. This means that Crim, Pinkerton, Swipp and Tomo are available to me. Screenshot rule for Pinkerton Apparel and Eggs etc. Pinkerton Familiars go in the pot.

Baldwin's Bubbling Brew is available, but at least one dragon in the Clan must be an Alchemist. Until an Alchemist dragon has been introduced, alchemy will not happen in the story.

Food may be Transmuted, but I cannot create Soylents. That would be cheating with the food gathering system of the Nuzlocke.

Familiars and Apparel may be created.

Coli death is story death.

Coin flip for every egg in every Nest. Heads lives, tails dies. No reflips.

Every Guardian born into the Clan MUST leave at two months, never to return, unless their Charge is within the clan. However, this is highly unlikely (roll percentile dice, 5% chance).

PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.

All kinds of gifts are ACCEPTED and will be worked into the story.
Crossovers currently welcome.

From Ashes is a Nuzlocke following the survivors of a devastating attack on a Fire clan as they struggle to survive and find a new home
Chapter 1: Three Founders Dust and ash blew over the charred ground, the setting sun just touching the horizon and painting the landscape a glowing blood red as the three dragons made their way over the uneven rock. The fine dust stuck to the two Mirrors, making one’s pale brown body almost grey and obscuring most of the smoke-like Gold patterns on the other one’s Obsidian hide. It was almost impossible to tell what colours the female Tundra walking with them was, as the fine ash had settled in her fur, but the Sand hide of her wings showed through in some places. "We've got to find shelter soon," the Obsidian Mirror said to the Stone one, raising his head to squint at the sun. "I'm looking, Tiirran," he replied, before turning to the Tundra. The furry dragon’s scarf was the only thing not absolutely covered in dust and ash, and the white and gold caught both the light and the Mirror’s attention. "Tielle, can you smell anything?" "I don't think I ever wandered this far, Kershan," Tielle admitted after a few moments, squinting at the distant magma vents. "The scent is unfamiliar. More grass than I’m used to, but it’s far away," “We should be nearing the lands of the Windsinger,” Tiirran commented. “My sense of direction tells me the border is around a week’s running ahead of us,” “That close?” Kershan said, surprised. “Huh. I don’t recognise the area from when we last came through,” “We were further south then,” the older Mirror explained. “A lot further south. The Sea of a Thousand Currents is no more than two-three weeks to our North right now,” Kershan and Tielle both hummed in thought. Then the trio continued in silence. ----- "Kershan, Tielle, over here!" Tiirran called. The sun was almost set now and the glow of the lava pools and vents provided most of the light. The Crimson-winged Mirror was standing by a narrow opening in the ground, a nearby lava river providing just enough light to reveal the opening and show off the cavernous interior. Kershan ran over and poked his head into the cave the older Mirror had found. "Hey, this looks good," he said, and Tiirran stepped aside to let him in. The Mirror disappeared in a flash of Stone tail and Navy wings, leaving the Tundra and the Mirror outside in the waning light. Just as Tielle was about to say something, Kershan's head appeared in the opening. "This is perfect!" he blurted. "A really great place to make a permanent Lair, lots of chambers and hallways and there's even a lava pool in one of the inner rooms to use for nesting, unless my heat vision is playing tricks with me," "That's great!" Tielle said enthusiastically, stretching her wings and shaking her furry body, creating a cloud of grey dust before she ducked her head and passed through the opening, her pale yellow fur catching for a moment on a jutting piece of obsidian. Tiirran broke it off and tossed it to the side as he wriggled after, almost getting stuck in the narrow hole. With a mighty huff, he managed to squeeze through, ignoring the stifled laugh that came from Tielle’s direction. The cave system proved to be everything they needed and more. It was empty and barren, the floor covered in pebbles and dirt, but it held a lot of potential. Kershan was delighted. After taking some time to explore, they had all gathered in the largest chamber, each of them returning from a different direction and appearing through holes in the wall. Kershan almost fell down when the narrow tunnel he was walking through suddenly opened up several meters above ground, but managed to spread his wings and slow the fall. “I want to settle here,” he declared, the tip of his tail lashing around. His eyes shone. “This place has everything, and it’s a good location, and the entrance is great, and I don’t think we’ll be able to find anything better. What do you think?” “It’s a good idea,” Tielle nodded enthusiastically. “I like it. Reminds me of my old Lair,” “Tiirran?” Kershan asked tentatively after a few seconds. The older Mirror was looking around thoughtfully, the fins on his head vibrating slightly. He was deep in thought, eyes skipping from obsidian vein to basalt rock, judging the stone, studying the hall. “It’s a good place,” he admitted, voice strangely distant. “Room for growth, hidden, the area isn’t crowded. Yes, we can live here.” He turned to smile at the younger dragons, suddenly present and energetic. “We can found a Clan.”

That's a really good start! I'm rather interested in the three adult dragons now, with them founding a new clan.

@AristaHolmes Chapter Two: Following Orders They slept that night in the main chamber as they would have in the open; all piled up together for warmth and safety. As the sun rose, a slanted beam of light cut through the narrow opening and fell on one of Tiirran’s paws, warming his obsidian and gold skin. The Mirror blinked sleepily, amber eyes adjusting to the sharp light as he carefully untangled himself from the two dragons he had piled up with. Tiirran didn’t go far. Stretching, he wandered into the sunlight, spreading his Crimson wings to catch the warmth and turning to look at his clanmates. Seeing them all piled up, Kershan’s Navy wings in sharp contrast to the more muted and natural tones of his body and Tielle, made his mind wander. ----- He had met Kershan first several weeks ago. He could recall the day with perfect clarity; the overcast skies threatening rain and the thick grass under his feet as he wandered. The volcanic ash blown onto the more stable, less flammable lands bordering the Windswept Plateau made the area astonishingly fertile and thus a good hunting ground. He had been stalking a pair of Ruby Webwings, dispatching them easily, and was just settling down to eat when a Stone and Navy Mirror had crested a hilltop and stopped cold upon spotting him. After a few moments of tense, silent inaction, Tiirran lowered his flared crests, nudged the second Webwing towards the stranger and said, “If you’re hungry I have a spare bird, stranger,” It had been mere formality, really. Mirrors were almost always hungry, and even when they weren’t they could eat quite a bit. But offering food was also offering friendship, and Tiirran had been able to make out the Stone-coloured Mirror’s bright amber eyes even at the distance. “Thank you, that is much appreciated,” the Stone Mirror said, descending the hill and taking the bird. “My name is Kershan,” “I am Tiirran,” the Gold-smoke Mirror replied, inclining his head, before they both dug into their fresh meals. --- Kershan stirred, stretching and yawning. As his mouth closed, he found himself with a mouthful of Sand-coloured fur. Spitting out Tielle’s tail and scraping loose hairs off his tongue, he heard Tiirran’s muffled laughter and glared owlishly. “You look very majestic,” the older dragon said, laughter in his voice. “Shaddup,” the younger one grunted, trying and failing to extract himself from the tangle of fur and limbs he was trapped in without waking Tielle. The insistent tugging as Kershan tried to free his leg from under Tielle’s chest woke the Tundra, who blinked sleepily, then untangled herself from the Mirror, stretched and yawned. Tiirran stretched his neck and shook his head, waiting for his clanmates to gather their thoughts and limbs, before turning to face the Mirror. “Any orders for today, Clan Leader Kershan?” he asked. Kershan wrapped his tail around his front legs and thought. “We need to widen the entrance a bit, and scout out the area,” he said after a moment. “We have enough food to last a few days, so we don’t need to hunt quite yet,” “I can start enlarging the entrance,” Tielle offered. “I’m a burrower so I can do it faster than either of you,” “Good idea. You get started on that, Tielle. Tiirran, could you have a look at our immediate surroundings? I’ll do the inventory in the meantime,” Kershan said. His clanmates nodded. “I’ll be back in a few hours,” Tiirran called over his shoulder before squeezing through the small opening. A moment later his head appeared and he addressed the Tundra. “Tielle, if you can make the opening big enough to allow me in without having to squeeze through by the time I return, I’ll see if I can find some of those spicy cacti you like,” he said. Tielle snorted. “You’d best have them with you when you return, then!” she called after him, earning a distant laugh as the Mirror left. The Banana Tundra turned to the remaining Mirror male and cocked her head to the side, amber eyes thoughtful. “What?” Kershan asked, staring back. “Oh, nothing,” Tielle replied lightly, flashing a grin that exposed her large canines. “We’d best get started, I think,” Kershan smiled, letting his own fangs show. “That we should, Tielle,” he rose, taking advantage of the large, open space to stretch his wings. The hallways were still on the smaller side. “As long as the opening remains relatively hidden, you can carve it out however you like,” he said. “I’ll be sorting our various materials and food. Storage rooms are down the leftmost corridor if you need me,” “Gotcha,” the Tundra replied, already studying the entrance and thinking about how to best work with the volcanic stone. Tiirran walked calmly away from the Lair until he no longer could see it, his heat-sight scanning the area for thermal vents. Spotting one, he made a sudden turn and sprinted, his talons digging into the ground and kicking up dust and lumps of dirt and rock. He jumped up on a boulder, spread his wings and launched himself into the air, circling over a hot air vent to gain altitude. Gliding along on the wind, he studied the ground, trying to spot his Lair. A flash of Banana and Sand fur as Tielle crossed the opening was the only clue he could see that there was indeed a Lair in the area. Satisfied, he banked and flew away. The sun was high in the sky when Kershan was satisfied with his work and left the Hoard to check on Tielle. The Tundra had worked without pause since he had left her that morning and the entrance was now easily twice as big and beautifully carved, flanked by elegant columns of obsidian and with a small staircase leading from the entrance and down to the floor of the entrance hall. Tielle was busy clearing away the rubble when Kershan entered. As she pushed the last pile of rubble into a small hollow neatly carved for the purpose, he could only admire the way she worked. The Tundra’s dedication was, in his opinion, exceptional and a true gift to the fledgling clan. “Oh, hello!” Tielle chirped when she spotted him, shaking off some stone dust. “What do you think?” “This is amazing!” he said after a breath. “Really nice!” Tielle grinned and ducked her head. “I think I used to do this, back in my old clan,” she said. “Working the stone isn’t hard. The only thing I think I should have is a fist-sized rock of some very hard stone, to help smooth the surfaces, but… this works,” she beamed at him, oblivious to the sudden, brief look of sadness that crossed the Mirror’s face. “This does work indeed,” he smiled back. “Have you heard anything from Tiirran? He should be back around now,” “Mm, no,” she admitted. “I think I saw him fly past just as I got started, but…” she walked over to the entrance, inhaling deeply. “He’s coming,” she announced. “I can smell him on the wind. Should be here soon,” she hopped down and joined Kershan on the floor, her tail just brushing his. A few minutes later there was the sound of beating wings, and Tiirran landed in front of the entrance. He had woven some yellow straw into a makeshift and slowly disintegrating bag, and Tielle could smell the delicious Ashfall Pricklers he carried inside. But then there was a sharp caw, and red feathers glinted in the light as a Ruby Webwing barrelled into view and barely managed to stop before crashing into Tiirran. Kershan and Tielle braced themselves for battle, but the Obsidian Mirror merely sighed. “I encountered it by a patch of grass and it won’t stop following me,” he explained. “I suppose it’s my Familiar now,” [item=Ruby Webwing] Kershan huffed. “I though you ate those,” he commented, a glint of humour in his eyes. “I do. But evidently not this one,” the older Mirror replied, entering the Lair. He stopped just inside the entrance, shrugging off the disintegrating bag, and stared at the entrance. “You’ve done a wonderful job,” he said to Tielle, who beamed and snatched up the cacti. “Sanc ‘ou!” she said around the prickly plant, making Kershan snort in laughter and look away, trying to remain dignified. The Webwing followed Tiirran, settling on the ground next to him. Its many eyes blinked irregularly at Kershan and Tielle. “I’ll dig out a cave for it, don’t worry,” the Obsidian Mirror promised. Kershan nodded. “I have a feeling we’ll need a Familiar Cave anyways,” he commented drily. Tiirran hummed. “The airs move in from the Wind areas here, so it’s greener than you’d expect,” he said. “Good foraging and hunting grounds, and I found a stream with some fish in it, so we’re all set for food. Trading Post and Marketplace are thataway too,” “That’s good,” Kershan nodded. “Any sign of other Clans?” Tiirran shook his head. “No, we’re the only settlement for many miles. But given how fertile these lands are, and how close to Wind and Water we’ve settled, I’ll wager we’re going to see some travellers,” “They’ll be welcome as long as they behave,” Kershan said decisively. Tielle nodded. “Yes, travellers are usually nice,” she said. “But we need to make this a proper Lair if we’re going to accept guests- or have room for the Clan to grow.” “True, true. I’ll help with the digging now, if you want?” The Obsidian Mirror offered. “That would be nice, yes. You can do the rough work and I’ll smooth everything over,” Tiirran grinned and bowed. “Just tell me where to dig, Tielle,” “What, you’re not even waiting for orders? Does my word as Clan Leader count for nothing?” Kershan demanded in mock outrage. Tielle turned to him, large canines showing as she grinned. “It does, Clan Leader, especially if you offer to help us make your Lair a proper and respectable home,” she said gleefully. “I walked right into that one, didn’t I,” the Mirror grumbled as his clanmates laughed. “You did, Kershan,” Tiirran grinned. “Come on, the sooner we get started the sooner we’ll be finished.” A/N: I did another rule change to allow for dragon death! Felt like cheating not to have Coli risks. The characters' backgrounds will be explored in conversations and memories in future chapters, but their bios currently contain some spoilers. The reason for random non-picture Familiar: I got it before I started obsessively screenshotting, but wanted to keep it. There's one more non-documented event, but after that I'll post pictures of everything, I swear!

“Thank you, that is much appreciated,” the Stone Mirror said, descending the hill and taking the bird. “My name is Kershan,”

“I am Tiirran,” the Gold-smoke Mirror replied, inclining his head, before they both dug into their fresh meals.

“We have enough food to last a few days, so we don’t need to hunt quite yet,”

“I can start enlarging the entrance,” Tielle offered. “I’m a burrower so I can do it faster than either of you,”

“Good idea.

“We’d best get started, I think,”

Kershan smiled, letting his own fangs show. “That we should, Tielle,” he rose, taking advantage of the large, open space to stretch his wings. The hallways were still on the smaller side. “As long as the opening remains relatively hidden, you can carve it out however you like,” he said. “I’ll be sorting our various materials and food. Storage rooms are down the leftmost corridor if you need me,”

“Gotcha,” the Tundra replied, already studying the entrance and thinking about how to best work with the volcanic stone.

“What do you think?”

“This is amazing!” he said after a breath. “Really nice!”

Tielle grinned and ducked her head.

He should be back around now,”

“Mm, no,” she admitted.

“I suppose it’s my Familiar now,”
Ruby Webwing
Kershan huffed.

Trading Post and Marketplace are thataway too,”

“That’s good,” Kershan nodded. “Any sign of other Clans?”

Tiirran shook his head. “No, we’re the only settlement for many miles. But given how fertile these lands are, and how close to Wind and Water we’ve settled, I’ll wager we’re going to see some travellers,”

“They’ll be welcome as long as they behave,” Kershan said decisively.

Tielle nodded. “Yes, travellers are usually nice,” she said. “But we need to make this a proper Lair if we’re going to accept guests- or have room for the Clan to grow.”

“True, true. I’ll help with the digging now, if you want?” The Obsidian Mirror offered.

“That would be nice, yes. You can do the rough work and I’ll smooth everything over,”
Tiirran grinned and bowed. “Just tell me where to dig, Tielle,”

“What, you’re not even waiting for orders? Does my word as Clan Leader count for nothing?” Kershan demanded in mock outrage. Tielle turned to him, large canines showing as she grinned.

“It does, Clan Leader, especially if you offer to help us make your Lair a proper and respectable home,” she said gleefully.

“I walked right into that one, didn’t I,” the Mirror grumbled as his clanmates laughed.

“You did, Kershan,” Tiirran grinned. “Come on, the sooner we get started the sooner we’ll be finished.”

A/N: I did another rule change to allow for dragon death!
From Ashes is a Nuzlocke following the survivors of a devastating attack on a Fire clan as they struggle to survive and find a new home
@Tiirran

Yes! Would you mind adding me to the pinglist?

There was a lot of good character development in this chapter, with things looking more and more interesting.
