Introduction
In Nanowrimo 2013, Micahjaguar started a writers' chat thread in the Wind forum. Since Micah and I left Wind, we've created a writers' chat here every month, to (a) meet new writers! and (b) keep in touch with all our Windy friends. (Hi Windies! We still love you all!)
Some purposes for this thread:
- Talk excitedly about your current awesome writing project!
- Whinge about your current project which no longer seems so awesome and you don't want to work on it any more but YOU WILL anyway. Because REASONS.
- Show off snippets of your writing
- Cheer your fellow writers on as they write!
- Commiserate with your fellow writers as they complain about not writing, or about not being happy with their writing
- Ask other participants to pick one of your dragons for you to write something about in the dragon's bio
- Show off dragon bios
- Admire one another's dragons and new hatchlings from time to time (because this IS Flight Rising)
- Any other writerly activities you want to chat about
"Dragon Writers" is a reference to this being a chat on a dragon site; there is no requirement that you write about dragons in order to participate. (Okay, there really aren't any requirements at all).
This is intended to be a general chat thread and not a critique group. Now, it's absolutely fine for a writer to post a link to their work and ask people for feedback and/or criticism! But it's also fine for people to post bits of their writing just to show off and with no desire to have it critiqued. And it's fine if you participate in the thread without ever sharing anything you write, or giving feedback on anyone else's writing.
Unless a writer solicits critiques, please only respond to their writing with supportive comments (or don't respond at all).
Also, this is a chat thread: we're here to interact with one another as writers. Showing up to say 'I haven't read any of the previous messages and am completely ignoring any conversations going on. Please come to my thread/read my writing' is unlikely to work out well for you.
New Business
Omigosh it's OCTOBER! Next month is NaNoWriMo! Who's planning to participate/sit it out/hasn't decided yet? If you do participate, do you plan your Nano novels ahead of time, or do you like to start totally fresh on Nov. 1?

I published
The Moon Etherium! FINALLY.
Also wrote 21,000 words of The Sun Etherium, which is what my brain considers DISMAL FAILURE these days. Really, brain? Do we have to do this? (Who put that bar way up there STAAHP.)
I did a new cover for The Moon Etherium, and then like three more variants on it before finally settling on one. I am tempted to swap covers in and out and see if any one of them sells perceptibly better. n_n
Anyway, that was pretty much my month. How's everyone else?

LadyRowyn Did a new cover for
Ophelia, but I don't have the $20 for the stock fee.
I think I'm supposed to be the Member of the Month for the publishing group at school. (Finally starting on my MA on the 24th!) Plus, I have an author spotlight coming up on Reddit on the 22nd.
Been working on a book I thought I might not work on ever again. No plans to finish it anytime soon, though, as I just realized last night that this would be a good time to (attempt to) wrap my version of
A Christmas Carol so I can get it out in time for the holidays!
I think that's everything...!

Happy October everyone!
It feels like September went by in a flash. I haven't really done anything notable in a while. Today the baby is 6 months old and I can't even believe it's been that long since she was born.

*does little dance* Tomorrow is my birthday! Huzzah!
Writing-wise, the publication of my asexual romance Cantor for Pearls last month capped off my official work for the year, but I have some unofficial stuff to finalize in preparation for the (otherwise complete) holiday novel that's going up in November. The e-book edition is done, the print edition is almost done, the cover is in progress with a fantastic new artist I'm really excited about, and the audiobook edition is... just about done. So I am keeping my eye on those things so that the end of November launch goes well.
I am goofing off now by writing a serial (super-slowly... only about 2000 words a week!) and figuring out if I want to write something in between now and December (probably yes) in addition to that.
Also, @LadyRowyn's book is super good, you should read it.
Meanwhile, dragons!
Hey, Rowyn, @benalene, Joy's daughters grew up! Filia's... great-great-great-granddaughters, I think? They are wild. This is my favorite:

I also got a bunch of smoldery skydancers. These are my favorites from that clutch:

But there are two more that are also gorgeous, arrrgh, why are they all so nice! Anyone else hatching cute babies? I think I need more skinks/spinners. And more jupiter/saturns.
Oh, and Benalene, I made Myron a bogsneak. I'm not sure if that was a good idea or not, but his children sold INSTANTANEOUSLY for tons of money and he's a little chuffed about that.

*sarcastic laughing* I like to think I've done stuff this month. I've drabbled, I've plotted, I've researched, I've reread the end of my last chapter a few million times. Have I actually written anything useful? No. I'm pretty sure I'm closer to publishing a book full of drabbles than anything else.

LadyRowyn
I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year. Which is what I've been plotting and reasearching for. I always do that kind of stuff ahead of time so I can just write during November.

I meant to post last month, but oh well.
I started going to a creative writing class where people share and edit their work. I want to share, but I'm the only one in class who writes fantasy. I feel very uncomfortable sharing because the person that writes scifi gets poor reception from others since no one else writes scifi. I have no clue what to do.
I also haven't worked on thr main novel I have for abour 5 months now. I don't even know what to write anymore. Instead I've been writing drama about the gods of the story, the majority of it is nsfw.
Has anyone else had issues like this or know what to do?

LadyRowyn Congrats on the publishing! Now I need to step up my game...if I wasn't still in class and working full time.
My writing now is pretty much just jotting down ideas for what me and my cohost could talk about on our podcast. Would it be alright to plug that here? It's about living in the State of Florida...but we try to be funny and informative. Also, I'd love some feedback on what we should do to make it better.
