General Introduction

During Nanowrimo 2013, I started a writers' chat thread in the Wind forum with Ladyrowyn. Since we left Wind, we've created a writers' chat here every month, to (a) meet new writers! and (b) keep in touch with all our Windy friends. (Hi Windies! We still love you all!)

Some purposes for this thread:

• Talk excitedly about your current awesome writing project!
• Whinge about your current project which no longer seems so awesome and you don't want to work on it any more but YOU WILL anyway. Because REASONS.
• Show off snippets of your writing
• Cheer your fellow writers on as they write!
• Commiserate with your fellow writers as they complain about not writing, or about not being happy with their writing
• Ask other participants to pick one of your dragons for you to write something about in the dragon's bio
• Show off dragon bios
• Admire one another's dragons and new hatchlings from time to time (because this IS Flight Rising)
• Any other writerly activities you want to chat about

"Dragon Writers" is a reference to this being a chat on a dragon site; there is no requirement that you write about dragons in order to participate. (Okay, there really aren't any requirements at all).

This is intended to be a general chat thread and not a critique group. Now, it's absolutely fine for a writer to post a link to their work and ask people for feedback and/or criticism! But it's also fine for people to post bits of their writing just to show off and with no desire to have it critiqued. And it's fine if you participate in the thread without ever sharing anything you write, or giving feedback on anyone else's writing.

Unless a writer solicits critiques, please only respond to their writing with supportive comments (or don't respond at all).

Also, this is a chat thread: we're here to interact with one another as writers. Showing up to say 'I haven't read any of the previous messages and am completely ignoring any conversations going on. Please come to my thread/read my writing' is unlikely to work out well for you.

My latest gaming obsession remains Pokemon go. So much walking. @_@

The Princess, Her Dragon, and Their Prince is another ten thousand words longer but still not done. I did some editing on Frost but it's not done yet either. *shakes fist at both*

I need a vacation, because my productivity is waaaaay down. And I don't want to take one until these things are done looming over me. And I want to do nano. Argh.

So the plan is to finish those two before the end of October so that I can stop working on crap for the rest of October and hopefully have some enthusiasm for writing when November hits. Like a club. The way October just did.

Hi there! I've been trying to get back into writing lore again, so I wrote on Mythos' bio what happened to a couple dragons and why they're gone. I could use a bit of a critique and yes im certain, its sloppy as all HECK. xD

Currently Reading: The Brotherband Chronicles (AHHH, SO GOOD.)

October! Yikes!! Today is a pleasant day of rains here. All the usually visible 'mountains' have disappeared beneath fog and/or VERY LOW clouds. The city we usually look down upon is missing.... very Twillight Zone. No new dragons as my weyr is at 200 and eagerly waiting for some sort of expansion. However, Tidalwing received quite a bit of new lore. I'm hoping to make an attempt at an accent in the near future. Also I gathered all the individual stories of my weyr's adventures during Flameforger's and posted them in one thread: http://www1.flightrising.com/forums/cc/2519288#post_2519288 Mandalas (done on one level - LOL) are doing well. One I did recently that turned out for a dragon who collects treasure and wears a crown: [img]https://i.imgur.com/cEN1abE.png[/img] Other than that, gardening, petting pets and being tired! Err - REtired I mean.

Ugh. October is now my busiest month. Being an ML for NaNoWriMo is a daunting task - you people better appreciate your local MLs! I have to write yet another Newsblast and get people revved up for pour Prep Workshop for NaNo...all while editing Dockside Murder (do not ask!), plotting out book 2, and creating the plotline and characters for a steampunk collab I think I mentioned before. I think I have my character for the Steampunk, and now I need to know my co-author's character well enough to write scenes together. Wish us luck! Spent last weekend with my Mom for her Birthday and got to spend time with an old friend who not only had my inspiration for a side plot for Book 2, but who the guest character should be...what do you call the character that is mainline to a plot, but not the book main character? lol. Guest main character is all I can think of, lol. Next weekend is a writers retreat where I hope to finalize some changes to Dockside Murder, then is the Prep Workshop, then a painting convention for me, THEN my anniversary, a NaNo Kick off and birthday, and daughter's graduation...BAH! @LadyRowyn omg i love pokemon go too!!! its been hard for me to find people to still play it these days D: Your story sounds intruiging, too! I haven't kept up with this thread in the past few months to hear about it but just by the title you've got me interested!


As for me, I'm working on multiple projects this month... probably the next few... or 100 months :'D . Most of them are writing scripts for games I'm planning to make to advance in my major here at college - but I'm still working on rewriting my actual novel!! It's been.... 3? years? and I still havent finished rewriting it ONCE. Oh well...

HNN i've been waiting for october for a while now!! it's technically my first preptober ever, and i'm kind of lost but i adore the idea of being able to work on the first outline "officially" alongside who knows how many people
and.. the countdown for NaNo can begin! i mean, i've kinda been counting down before too, but now it's only 30 days away :v
