I'm revamping my lore thread so I have incentive to actually use it, but I don't want to trash the old code in case something goes wrong. So this is really just storage XD

Located on the wind-scoured highlands and the seaside cliffs north of the Twisting Crescendo, the town overlooks the sea and sky. This clan opens their arms to any Wind clan or weary traveller- especially at festival time! Quickly becoming popular on trading routes by sea, land, AND air, their new lair gets many visitors. Some stay for a while and partake in schooling and training so that they will be better prepared for wherever their lives lead. All winds blow through the Plateau, and all dragons are welcome in the Ventus Clan- from any flight and every breed. This is a place of music, learning, art, and life.

_____Some years ago, the Ventus Clan settled themselves in a seaside valley on the Twisting Crescendo coast. They built a village, named it Gwynt, and made a home out of the craggy wind-scoured valley. As you may have noticed in the Introduction to this Lore Book, the area looks like this.

_____If you wish to become more familiar with the layout of the area, continue reading! A detailed map of the lair is currently being illustrated by the clan's lead cartographer. Notes: the Hatchery and the Cemetery/Memorial Grounds are not currently included in the descriptions. That's because I don't know where to put them yet. I'll get back to it! When I do, expect more detailed descriptions of the Clan Hall, Inn, and Square.
*A couple years ago in dragon terms! I did not become a Venerable lair in 2016. I only joined in 2018!
>> This valley is windswept, but mild. Though the grass is vibrantly green (excluding the winter), it does not hold most crops well, so the majority of the valley has been left as wild grassland. A creek runs along the base of the south ridge, spilling as a beautiful waterfall into the cove there. The land is full of dips, hollows, and rises, but few trees.
>> Waterfall cove is stunning. Sheer rock goes right down to the water and deeper, to where the lobster and barnacles live. Dragons live here, too. There are rough windows and doorways carved from the stone, with no access but by air, as well as dwellings below the waterline along the submerged boulders. Mostly Water dragons, aquatic familiars, and other sea creatures reside here. It is calm and peaceful most days, but there is no spell of calmness over the tides here. When the autumn storms blow in, the dragons here hunker down deep in the cliffs.
>> The next cove over is the harbour. A pebble beach is covered in boardwalks and crates, with docks extending into the water. A spell lies on the water and the seafloor has been dredged out a little, allowing for mid-sized ships to unload right onto the wharf. This area is generally busy and a bit messy. The washed-up seaweed is cleaned away as often as possible, to keep the bay a little less smelly. Sometimes visiting merchants set up shop on the boardwalks instead of lugging their wares all the way to the town. A large ramp has been carved from the stone and constructed of sturdy wood, allowing dragons and wagons alike to traverse the cliffs from seaside to village. The most impressive feature of Harbour Cove is the massive door, hewn right from the very cliff. The humungous doors are enchanted stone, chiseled long ago with runes and beautiful designs. They lead directly into the Hoard, Vault Chambers, and the catacombs, but are very rarely pulled open.
>> The farthest cove is frequented for fishing and little more. The beach in this cove is wider and softer, and sometimes dragons collect driftwood or wander the surf.
>>At the top of the ramp that leads up and out of the harbour, a cobbled road begins that leads a bit inland to Gwynt proper. This road passes between two mossy stone cairns. They used to be the supports for one large stone arch, but it was older than the oldest dragon in the clan and a one fateful day a tall Guardian walked straight into it and knocked it down. The history arch-no-longer had hooks for a wooden sign, but now the sign and banner are on a post just past the cairns. They proclaim the valley as Ventus Clan territory, and the town as Gwynt, home of Dragons.
>>The rocky point below the headland on the north side of Harbour Cove extends farther than the others do. The larger rock outcroppings at the base of the cliff often form tide pools, and are a point of fascination for budding dragon biologist. The rocks submerge and continue, creating a jagged and dangerous reef. Midway down this 'reef' (which extends perpendicular to the coast) is an island. Long ago, it was likely a part of the mainland. It eroded to a seastack, and after centuries, it is little more than a lump of rock. Tough grass and bushes have taken root in the sandy dirt in some spots on the island, hunkering down against the wind. A dragonmade tower clings to the island as well, jutting up. Built from the same dark rock, it sometimes looks like the tower is little more than a massive dragon fang jutting up from the sea. The tower is a lighthouse for the reef, as well as a residence for dragons. Sometimes, it even serves as a dock for airships!
>> The Hoard Caverns and Vault Chambers are located underground. A cave system, mostly created by natural underground channels, has been added to by dragons over the years. There is an entrance in the clan hall which is guarded constantly, an entrance in the harbour which is enchanted and rarely open, and a few other entrances here and there. The tunnels that branch off from the Hoard and Vault chambers are labyrinth and mysterious. You never know what you might find in the deepest caves! Not all the tunnels are mapped yet, and some are downright dangerous. Parts of the northern tunnel area are occasionally mined for ore and stone.
>>Atop the far ridge, there is a very old shrine to the Windsinger. It had been there for generations already when the clan moved in. The wind blows almost constantly through this small stone henge, and sometimes the wind whistling between the stones sounds a little like singing. Dragons come here to make offerings, pray, or conduct ceremonies.
>>Gwynt, the village proper, is set back aways from the top of the cliffs, nestled in the base of the valley between two ridges. The narrow streets are cobbled and twist somewhat erratically over the rises in the ground. The impressive Clan Hall leans over the plaza, which is a large circular paved area with a sundial in the middle and a well off to the side. The sundial is a clan artifact and was brought on balloons/hover spells all the way from the Reedcleft Ascent. Shops and offices surround the public area, which bustled with stalls during Festivals and market days. The village also has an inn, a training building, a school, workshops, and other amenities.
>>Some dragons chose to build their homes outside the townsite, in grassy knolls and flat slopes. In addition to the Waterfall Cove residences, there is a collection of houses built into the hillsides facing both north and south, more homes in the creek banks at the base of the south ridge, and some farmhouses and cottages on the valley floor. The cliffs that plunge to the water are naturally terraced in some places, and while the loose grassy topsoil is too steep to built on even here, paths have been tracked across the tops of these terraces right next to the rock face. Entrances to tunnel networks and dragon dens are interspersed along these paths.
>>Deep in the catacombs lays the Memorial Stone, a massive megalith of dark rock. Magically etched upon it are the names of every dragon who have been exalted in a clan ceremony. It is sacred to the clan, for it has been in the clan lair ever since the clan joined together. It was airlifted all the way from the Reedclefts. While the stone is large, it's surface still cannot hold the memories of every dragon. So, the names of the exalted spill out of the stone across the floor, walls, and ceiling of the candlelit cavern where it sits. The passage to this room is well-travelled and bright, lined with niches. In these niches are placed candles, flowers, and trinkets, and on the walls dragons carve messages to their departed loved ones. It is known as the Cavern of Memories and the Aisle of Beloved Souls.
