Hey, friends! I'm on the hunt for assistance pricing art in terms of FR currency, and I'd LOVE your help, y'all! Examples: Sketch Colored stuff, ranging in quality from sketchy to clean and shaded. Each drawing takes anywhere from 1 to 5 hours, depending on how long the initial sketch and lineart takes. Humanoids are SUPER hard, but animal characters of various types are pretty easy. Thanks in advance to y'all!

As I draw more stuff that's a good example of my general quality, I'll post 'em here if needed!

@Undel ,@Aequorin , Is CC correct for this, or should it be in Art Sales?

I hope I don't sound like an absolute monster, but there are a ton of artists on FR and the market is super competitive because of that, so honestly I don't think your art would sell. If you really wanted to you could do a PWYW but I think you should be focusing on practice now.

@AttackTheMap
Thanks a too-- this is actually quite helpful. I'll make sure to practice as much as I can, and improve enough to produce consistently high-quality pieces!

Definetly open a PWYW shop and if you don't already have a drawing tablet I would recommend you to get one.

There are also some great tutorials on youtube. Also watch some speedpaints to see how others build up their drawings.

And a tip

Gestures and shading is the key to make your drawing more interesting. A stiff pose will be boring even if the drawing is good. Shading can amplify the dynamic movement and the general feel of the drawing.

Ooh, a drawing tablet, hm? I've been looking at getting one for a while, but never really sat down and seriously considered the proper one to buy.
In regards to your tips about shading and bringing more life to drawings, I'm definitely still working on that -- it seems far easier in traditional art, but I'm still settling into the digital realm. Thank you for your suggestions!

Just to clear common misconceptions you may have up:
Of unable to afford/get a tablet, use correction/stabilizer/etc. It keeps your lines clean and smooth!
Tablet you get doesn't really matter! Of course, a visual one and one you just draw on are different but that is about it. Some have better responses and all that but at the end of the day its your own skill.
Honestly, no matter how good or bad your art is, if you sell it the right way at the right price, people will be interested. I used to set up a bunch of small pwyw headshot shops and they actually sold worse than my more expensive main art shop
If using a PWYW shop, make a minimum if like atleast 10kt/g so you don't get ripped off!

That's some really helpful stuff! I've recently started using a software with a MUCH better stabilizer than my previous one, so my linework will hopefully start to improve. I'm also starting to seriously consider a PWYW practice/experimental art shop -- thanks for suggesting a minimum-pay idea!
