The Creative Bee Challenge

A bee has to work diligently all throughout the year to help the hive thrive, and artists should strive to work just as hard to hone their artistic skills! This challenge aims to give you some gudelines and objectives to stay motivated to draw every day to get better!

What this is

A list of drawing exercices to help you get better! It includes lots of things you might do in art school and that don't necessarily sound fun to everyone (tho to me they do), like still lives, drawing using a reference, challenges, etc. Think of it as art lessons guidelines!
@ecetulle and I came up with the idea because we wanted to practice, but everyone is free to participate, no matter their skill level!
A productive way to keep yourself occupied during quarantine, by learning new skills! All the exercises are things you can do at home, as long as you have at least a piece of paper and a pen! This will probably run for as long as we're stuck home.
A place to give and get constructive criticism!

The aim is to get better, so with that in mind it would be good to spend at least 1/2 hour to 1 hour per drawing. But if you don't have time feel free to drop a 15 min or even a 5 min doodle! Drawing regularly is more important than spending lots of time on each drawing. Good Habit > Masterpiece.
You obviously don't have to do all of the challenges. You can just participate once, or once in a while and that's ok! We're glad to have you on board either way! c:

Your reaction is so sweet Serenity! I am glad you will take part in it if you can and i am looking forward to seeing what you create c: Here is my artwork for day 1: I took three (clean) tissues and wrinkled them up fairly well and put them on my small travel size watercolor-box! In the end I finished it with black a black permanent marker and a black pen for the additional constraint.

Here's mine for today!! (Day 1, week 1) @ecetulle I think you did pretty good! Esp seeing how complex yours is! :D Congrats! One thing that could be improved next time you do something like this is to try and have it be a little less messy (I'm talking especially with regards to the right one). We get a bit lost in all the lines and wrinkles, so maybe putting emphasis on the structure of the thing would work best (that can be achieved with more contrast, leaving more areas blank, and being careful with which ones you decide to fill in, so that they pop up more!) The left one is better in that regard, still a bit messy but that can also be a valid style tbh!!

The main thing an artist strives to archieve is to convey an idea to the person looking at the artpiece, so even if the drawing is extremely accurate and one to one depicting reality (which, mine was not), sometimes simplifying it is better, so the viewer does not get lost in detail. 2) Do not get lost in detail! Drawing everything super detailed in a painting takes up extremely lot of time, it is better to be doing the details to the *important* parts of the image, for the reason above but also to save time. Tips from Day 1:
1) Clarity matters quite a lot in an image! The main thing an artist strives to archieve is to convey an idea to the person looking at the artpiece, so even if the drawing is extremely accurate and one to one depicting reality (which, mine was not), sometimes simplifying it is better, so the viewer does not get lost in detail.
