New Business
We're alive! I decided to try to revive the thread after it went dormant in...2018? I don't even know.
We also have a new directory! I couldn't figure out why the pinglist wasn't working, and then I discovered that the big yellow warning box was there for a reason. xDDD
Original Introduction by Lady Rowyn
In Nanowrimo 2013, Micahjaguar started a writers' chat thread in the Wind forum. Since Micah and I left Wind, we've created a writers' chat here every month, to (a) meet new writers! and (b) keep in touch with all our Windy friends. (Hi Windies! We still love you all!)
Some purposes for this thread:
- Talk excitedly about your current awesome writing project!
- Whinge about your current project which no longer seems so awesome and you don't want to work on it any more but YOU WILL anyway. Because REASONS.
- Show off snippets of your writing
- Cheer your fellow writers on as they write!
- Commiserate with your fellow writers as they complain about not writing, or about not being happy with their writing
- Ask other participants to pick one of your dragons for you to write something about in the dragon's bio
- Show off dragon bios
- Admire one another's dragons and new hatchlings from time to time (because this IS Flight Rising)
- Any other writerly activities you want to chat about
"Dragon Writers" is a reference to this being a chat on a dragon site; there is no requirement that you write about dragons in order to participate. (Okay, there really aren't any requirements at all).
This is intended to be a general chat thread and not a critique group. Now, it's absolutely fine for a writer to post a link to their work and ask people for feedback and/or criticism! But it's also fine for people to post bits of their writing just to show off and with no desire to have it critiqued. And it's fine if you participate in the thread without ever sharing anything you write, or giving feedback on anyone else's writing.
Unless a writer solicits critiques, please only respond to their writing with supportive comments (or don't respond at all).
Also, this is a chat thread: we're here to interact with one another as writers. Showing up to say 'I haven't read any of the previous messages and am completely ignoring any conversations going on. Please come to my thread/read my writing' is unlikely to work out well for you.

Never thought I'd be running this thread myself--sorry for the bugs! (If you find 'em, let me know so I can swat 'em!)
I'm also not going to stay subscribed, so hopefully everything will be okay!

(P.S.: This is the only time I'll be summoning the Olde Horde, so if you're still playing and want to be in the new list, please add yourself to the new directory. Thanks!

aah the last time i was pinged for this was december! there's supposed to be a new one every month, but a few of the originals have left FR and i don't think anyone picked up the mantle? i know i didn't, as i've picked up other FR responsibilities XD
it's nice to see it again, though!! i've done
some writing this year, as i made myself two goals for 2020: finish all of my gene projects, and get some lore going again.
the first goal was finished very recently when i traded off some DV stuff!
the second... well LOL. i broke that goal into a handful of other goals:
Quote:
Write at least 500 words worth of lore per week.
Write at least a tiny blurb of personality/occupation for every lore dragon.
Get all bios formatted properly.
all of my bios are formatted! i ordered some custom dividers, which really helped me to get them all done tbh. and i wrote about 6.5k words this year? which isn't a lot, but i've just not had the energy (can we guess why... LOLOL). i tend to write a lot when i get down to it, so i figured my goal of 500 words/week wouldn't be too bad! i can do that in an hour easy if i really wanted to. but the "wanted to" has been absent.
i'm not beating myself up about it, though. i did get 6.5k more words written this year than i would've without the challenge, and everyone now has a lore occupation and formatted bio. that's quite a lot! especially since i've had the vast majority of my dragons for well over a year now and hadn't done any of that lol.

I added some stuff to the sheet, hope I did it right :O
Excited to get back into writing! Hopefully I'll have something to share soon.

Hi all~~
I've not gotten any writing done this year as my current artsy slots seem to be currently filled with sewing and drawing. I have several fanfic ideas that I would like to explore, but planning multi-chapter stories are super hard for me.
On the FR side of things I'm attempting a clan lore again, but I really have no idea where to start. I'm currently trying to assign each dragon a role and see where that goes haha. Also low-key thinking of starting my lore hatchery again, but I gotta get use to writing small blurbs again.

Darkmoonbreeder I think it may be because Lady R went on hiatus? I have no idea when the last thread actually was, but the one I pulled the intro, etcetera from was from September 2018.
And yes, I have stress-based writer's block. So much fun!
33 chapters! Woo! (*high five*)
@
Pachirisu Oh, did it survive through December 2019? Or did you mean 18?
Hey, way to lore. (Says someone who never works on that ever. LOL)
@
deztora I didn't see anything that looked amiss.
Only the instructions, which I mislabeled because I was being a copycat. (Thank you, CH, whoever you are!)
@
MeraHunt I have a pillowcase that's several years unmended because I'm lazy. It's a freaking
seam, Marian! It's not that hard!

Holy smokes, I forgot about this- Thank you @ColonelMarian for reviving it!
Hello and welcome! ;-; Sounds like you guys have some good goals and progress so far [s]in spite of The Battle of Writer's Block.[/s] I've somehow been able to write a chapter a month (each chapter is around 4k polished words) of my current WIP since about April, instead of abandoning it for months at a time. Do I have a regular release date now? It feels great ;-;
May all of your projects this month be blessed, and may all your muses find you at respectable hours of the day [emoji=familiar heart size=1]

@Darkmoonbreeder
Long time no see! Congrats on the book progress, that's such an awesome achievement! Does the ending look like it's going to fight you/does it need any more drafting, or is it already mostly worked out? Feel free to share a blurb of what it's about, but I understand if it's sworn to secrecy!
@Pachirisu
Hi! I love your writing goals this month, and I might join you! Getting just a line or two down for each dragon feels really doable, but then stepping up to 500 words after that? It looks like a healthy writing workout! Feel free to share some of your dragons as they get spiffied up ;v;

Thanks for being proud of me *highfives back*
Honestly I kinda know how I want it to end, I need to work out a few details and get over this one roadblock but then I can DO IT (and then write the rest of the trilogy)
I'm just struggling with this one bit :D
I don't have an official 'ending' ending but here's a blurb:
(for context a disaster just struck the castle and now it's burning)
"Kaia!" I heard Shale call. I turned from the woman to see Shale climbing a pile of rubble. He was covered in soot and bruises and parts of his clothes were torn. He stumbled down the pile towards me.
"Don't listen to him! He'll trap you again. Come with me!" the woman hissed. I hesitated for a moment and she grabbed my hand and everything went dark.
BUt yeah... if you want to know more I will gladly tell you :D
