Sekk stared down at the tiny dragon in front of him, blinking twice in apparent confusion. His gaze moved slowly from the hatchling to the stick of berries he'd been given and, again, he seemed to have nothing to say. What was a hatchling doing outside of their clan? Sekk couldn't stand adult dragons, let alone hatchlings, and this one seemed partial to incessant rambling that was impossible to tune out.

"I'm not sick." Sekk drew himself back a little, still not entirely sure how to act around the much younger dragon. It didn't stop him from reaching out a hesitant paw to swipe up the berries and bring them a little closer to his person, though. Sick? No. Hungry? Starving may have been a better word. The land around did not supply much food, which was hardly surprising, and he hadn't eaten in days.

"Where are your parents?" Sekk then asked, choicefully ignoring the bombardments of questions he was being asked. He didn't have time to suffer idle chitchat about his 'helmet'. "A young hatchling like you shouldn't be alone, not in this land. You're so.. small."

' we don't have them! ' chatterbox says, and he sounds almost too cheerful for the sentiment. ' we got a couple diff'rent teachers, and the people who made us, but we don't have parents, really. i guess recoil'd be the closest thing, but he's got other cadets to look out for. there's s'posed to be thousands of us, so i haven' met them all. '

he's indignantly drawing himself up to his full height, which, granted, doesn't really mean that much, tail flicking back and forth.

' i'm not that young. and even if i am small, that doesn' mean anything. tetta's not much bigger than me, an' she's already workin' to be a captain. '

The Spiral blinks, appearing almost surprised, but his sharp smile is friendly.

"Oh, forgive me, I thought you were a wandering corpse, but now I see that you are quite alive!" Though perhaps not for much longer, the Spiral's oddly pale eyes seem to say.

The Spiral laughs. "How silly of me to mistake you for dead--me, of all dragons!" He pauses, still smiling. "Though looking closer, I see why I was confused. You have quite the aura of death about you, hmm?"

When the Spiral adjusts his wings, it becomes apparent how emaciated he is. "What did you do, kill your family? Or your friends?" The Spiral's grin is unsettling now, if it wasn't before. Another pause as the Spiral admires the barren landscape. Then grinning, he speaks in the voice of many. "Whatever are you doing out here, fallen one?"
Please remember that you (yes, you) are loved and important. Stay strong!

@mikhael
Sekk's expression of confusion and befuddlement was hidden behind his mask, but the way he adjusted himself to get a bit of a closer look at Chatterbox gave at least a hint as to his uncertainty. This hatchling was.. strange looking, very small, but seemed to be much more advanced than Sekk would have otherwise given him credit for. The idea of the other trying to appear a little bigger, however, was laughable and Sekk breathed out a low snort of what could have been amusement.

"And so you believed you could wander out into the desert, alone." It wasn't a question and was spoken in a rather dry tone. Sekk withdrew himself a little further, mindful to not step on the berries he'd been given a few moments prior. "Surely someone must have told you that that's not a good idea, especially not out here."

//Oh hello I am here for this guy's lore. Creepy amaciated dudes with a strong affinity for death? Sign me up!

Sekk regarded the Spiral with an air of disinterest, but his eyes narrowed slightly as the scent of blood and death assailed his nostrils. This one he did not like. The way the Spiral held himself, presented himself and even the way he spoke seemed unnatural, or like a very good façade that was just barely being upheld. One wrong move and Sekk would surely find himself scraping with this newcomer. He was no stranger to sensing strong magics around a dragon and this one was practically saturated in it, so he had no doubt that this one would put up a fight if it came to that.

Yet, Sekk was not one accustomed to fear. He had been the one who used to instil terror in the hearts of steely warriors and resolved veterans and he would not be intimidated by this otherworldly Spiral. The Skydancer straightened himself up a little and considered they who stood before him.

"Nothing of your kind's concern," Sekk said coldly, seeming to turn a nose up at the Spiral. He always did have a superiority complex and he was unabashed about the fact. "So nothing you should worry yourself over. I'm sure you've got greater things to worry about than what I am doing here and, if you don't, you best start thinking a little harder." It was not a threat, per say, but it was not spoken with the care of a concerned matriarch. Sekk was already beginning to connect the dots with this emaciated dragon before him and he was not one he wanted to linger with. Dragons who dealt with death were dangerous, to say the least.

"I could ask you the same," he then said, eyes narrowing again, a little further this time. "What would someone such as yourself be doing out here, purposefully approaching dragons like myself?"

(Astaroth also has a bio and lore if you'd like to read it. He's one of my favourites, if I'm honest.) At once, he spoke, voice caught somewhere between the whispering echoes of a cavern filled with spirits and the low grumble of an old god - like silken incantations, too many voices and too many teeth. "State your business, whelp. What is it that you seek in these unforgiving wastes?" As his words fell from his maw, flashes of black gum and gritted teeth became suddenly apparent - one moment he seemed normal, save for the eyes that littered his face, and the other like some ancient horror - two, three sets of jaws and the blackness that seeped from his ribs, his chest, his throat. Approaching the Skydancer slowly, he crept forward, his frame moving almost too fluidly. His whiskers rippled in the breeze, trailing far behind him as if floating of their own accord and his eyebrows drew close to one another as his lips were wrenched into an unnatural smile that stretched almost to his ears. "Why is it that you mortals so love to play at being god? Do you truly believe you can cheat death, fallen one?" A deep, gravelly chuckle floats from between sharp teeth. "Such an amusing specimen you are..."

@WeSpeakInTeeth has got to be the most distressing username I've ever heard and I love it so much. What does it mean? I don't know, but it sounds cool. Also, thumbs up on that bio! I lowkey love the 'parasite entering a dragon and parading around it their body' thing but I don't see it often? 10/10

Sekk's first thought was of bemusement. This Imperial really believed he could scare him? Clearly he knew nothing, parading around and calling others 'mortals' as if it gave him some sort of power over the other. Perhaps a taste of his power might aid to knock this Imperial down a few pegs. The idea was much more tempting than Sekk cared to admit. He hadn't had a challenge for a while and he bet this dragon would give him amusement for several weeks in his quest to unpick the brain of this individual. His appearance certainly implied something quite fascinating about himself, to say the least.

His second thought was that this one liked to talk, for Sekk hadn't even spoken yet and already he was being threatened. Luckily for him, he was used to lumbering Imperials and massive Guardians for company and size alone was not the intimidating factor. 'Lumbering' may not have been the most appropriate word for this one, though, and so Sekk did not immediately discredit the threat before him.

"Hardly pleasant, are you?" Sekk commented, gazing up at this Imperial and even going as far as to drum his claws against the ground in a steady rhythm. "Crude greeting, unpleasant smell, and completely oblivious to the threat I could pose to you and yours." Sekk sounded.. not gleeful, not yet, but his disinterest was quickly fading into something else. He was more than welcoming of this threat to his life as well, it seemed, and wasn't doing much to discredit any aggression. "What threat do you possibly possess to me?" He then asked, sounding as if he was jibing the other. "Because, aside from your size, I don't see much else." That was a blatant lie, but Sekk was curious. To what lengths would this dragon go to keep up his image? How precious was it to him, exactly? He wanted to know.
