Fire dragons have been brought forth in the past to try and unfreeze the waters, but none are successful at melting it. Blocks of the lake have been chipped away, only to melt when taken far enough from it to produce nothing but clear fresh water. Where the block was chipped new water has returned, frozen in place just as the rest like it was always there. The lake has boggled the minds of scientists throughout the world, leaving them with more questions than answers. The night of a lunar eclipse, everything changes. As the moon is washed in darkness as Sornieth turns its shadow upon it, something falls from the sky. It lands in the dead center of the lake, mimicking the crater-like shape of the bowl of earth which it sits. Though, none will ever see this anomale, as the lake freezes back once more. This however only lasts for a few moments. The water beneath the frozen ice seems to glow an otherworldly blue, humming through the solid sheets above. Then, it begins to vapor. Bubbles pop through the surface of the ice, as if the water below is being boiled and the heat is looking to vent through the ice. Within an hour, the lake melts. Calm, pristinely azure water makes up the lake’s surface just as the moon re-emerges in its brilliant light and reflects down. Another hum and the lake glows that strange blue in the same spot where the moon’s mirror image rests. Then, they crawl out. It has been since before the ancient times that these dragons walked the earth. Born from the ethers that bring them back once more, the two ethereal beasts are the mirror image of themselves, just as the moon reflects back upon the surface of their lake. Returning to walk the planes of Sornieth, their inquisitive gazes regard the new world around them. They seek knowledge, curious of how the world has changed since they were last awake. It seems that they have been forgotten within this world, no longer relevant nor recognizable. The two decided it was time for them to return, and to bring with them their godly bounty. Their offspring would go on and live within the new world of Sornieth, and eventually, they would return back to the ethers and wait another millenia to see it once more. To find out if their children and their descendants reshaped the world as they so hoped they would.[/i] [center][b]Welcome[/b][/center] [size=2]Welcome to Deep Ether Lineage & Lore. This is a special project that I am very excited to share, and hope will entice and inspire others to participate in. The founders of the Deep Ether Lineage are Tiamet and Abzu. Ancient celestial beings that once roamed the world of Sornieth, they have returned under a lunar eclipse. Their history has been forgotten by the clans and dragons that inhabit the material realm, leaving their names and their stories to be lost by all. They have decided to roam the world again, seeking out information and learn from their surroundings. But, like all old gods, they are mischievous and not always kind. They nest periodically, bringing about their offspring to go forth into the world and each takes with it a special ability bestowed upon them from their godly parents. What’s so special about these dragons, you may ask? All dragons belonging to the deep ether Lineage have imbued in them a bit of magic that has passed through their bloodline from the founders. Depending on how close to their genetics these offspring match will dictate the amount of magic they are capable of. The magic of the deep ether can manifest in different ways, depending on the clan that the offspring nest in. There is a section below the rules post that outlines those powers and their percentages based on the genetics of the offspring. The amount of magic in which they receive is based on how close they are to the founders' main genetics. Each member of the lineage receives a percentage of magic from their godly founders, however their genetics dictate how much and what kind. Whether you decide to entertain the idea of your dragon having magical properties is of course your decision, but it does add an extre bit of fun to the lineage! The following chart explains the percentage of magic passed on through the generations: [b]Pureblood[/b]: 80% [b]Benefactor[/b]: 50%-75% (based on generation) The flights have an impact on the type of magic that these dragons can harness. Each correlates with the element it represents. [b]Lightning[/b] - Dragons from the Lightning flight that are descendants of the Deep Ether founders have the ability to harness balls of lightning. They are natural conductors, allowing electricity to pass through their bodies and can either direct it to a specific spot or discharge it all at once. Note: All 1st generation dragons are lightning, but because they are pureblood they are able to take up the magical abilities of their new flight. [b]Ice[/b] - These dragons are always cold to the touch, as if frozen from the inside out. They never suffer from being exposed to the elements of the icy tundras in the south, rather become more active when it is colder. They breathe a chilled breath instead of fire, turning whatever their focus is into a popsicle. [b]Plague[/b] - Practically a sponge, it is the plague descendant that most should be worried about. They seemingly grow stronger in the presence of illness and disease, unaffected to all of them. Plague descendants can choose to absorb the illness of another, becoming a temporary carrier of it to spread to different places. [b]Light[/b] - Warm and full of wisdom, these dragons are bestowed a gift of premonition. They are able to foresee an event before it happens, shedding light on situations that have yet to arise. They are often sought out as oracles, though whether they choose to deliver these visions is at their own discretion. [b]Shadow[/b] - The shadows these creatures play-- traveling through darkened corners as if through portals, these dragons know how to use the dimmest of lights to their advantage. At night they are practically invisible, undetectable as they move. [b]Nature[/b] - Though most Nature dragons benefit under the glow of the warmth and growth of sunlight, these dragons come more to life at night, their paths blooming with all manner of moonlight kissed fauna. Their resting places are known to bloom fullest under the light of a full moon, bringing forth the dewy presence of the Bluelipped Thresh, which is only said to bloom in the most specific of conditions. [b]Earth[/b] - Those born of the Earthen bloodline share a connection between the earth and the sky. Tremors beneath the earth created from their powerful forms roll like thunder. Their forms are usually much tougher, not at all conducive to electricity, which makes them prone to working comfortably in dangerous situations, such as in the midst of storms. [b]Arcane[/b] - The magic in their veins is said to be richest at a full moon. Their energy and strength build toward this event--usually the time in which their rituals and spellcasting takes place. Their power is rich in colors of sapphire and amethyst, making their energy stand out from others possessing the Arcane talents. [b]Water[/b] - As soothing as the tides, water flight descendants have been gifted with the ability to heal with cool touches and blessing of water. They can wrap up those about them in a calm embrace made of healing waters and restore and rejuvenate them back to health. These descendants would be sought out for their abilities by any clan that would have them. [b]Wind[/b] - Dragons of this flight possess the ability to gather up the winds of storms and either reproduce them elsewhere or build upon it to create gale force winds. They are able to create a powerful windstorm up to the strength of a hurricane. While they descend from ice and lightning they can also absorb these forces to negate them at will. [b]Fire[/b] - Fire dragons are a rare but exceptionally gifted bloodline. Instead of the typical fire, they breathe blue flame--a fire so hot that it turns an icy hue, burns for a period longer than average, and crackles with residual electric energies. [b]Beastclan[/b] - Dragons that hail from the Beastclan flight have an innate ability to summon forth any beast of their choosing. They can control them as if they were their pet or soldier, utilizing them for tasks both mundane and rigorous. Beastclan descendants tend to be a bit more feral than the others, preferring to roam with the creatures they command.
