CLAIM POSTS MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE DRAGON YOU WILL BE WRITING ABOUT IN THEM

Hazel heard the trio long before she could see them.

The Bogsneak was by her pond, meditating in the moonlight when it happened. A chorus of snapping branches and crunching leaves punctuated with the voices of young dragon shushing each other filled the brisk night air. This was followed by the sound of birds, beasts, and bugs fleeing the cacophony created by the intruders. Hazel turned her head slightly towards the forest and opened an eye.

“Is it that time of the year already?” she hissed. A loud yelp followed by “HUSH” came from the direction of the forest as if in response.

A devious smile crept across her face as she adjusted her hat. Satisfied it wasn’t going to fly off into the pond like the last time, Hazel broke into a sprint back towards her home.

----

Hazel’s tongue flicked in and out of her mouth as she watched the three adolescents approach her hollow and the cave network she called home. A questioning chirp drew her attention to the small family of Emerald Cave Jewels surrounding her.

“Yes, my dears,” she said. “Just like last year.” The glowing creatures sat up on their rear legs, chattering and chirping excitedly to each other about the game they were going to play with their new visitors. “Quickly now, before they’re close enough to see your lights. Save it for the tunnels.” She watched their glowing forms scamper into the undergrowth before turning to her next Familiar.

“And you,” Hazel hissed, lowering her head so she was eye to eye with her Corpse Cleaner. “Sprains, stubbed toes, scrapes and bruises are acceptable injuries. Broken wings are not. I am not having a ‘little chat’ with the locals again because of your...enthusiasm." Hazel bared her teeth at her Familiar, "Do you understand me?

The segmented insectoid managed to look a little ashamed before nodding their head.

“Good. And as for the rest of you, you know what to do. Now go, they’re almost here.” Hazel turned her attention to the approaching racket as the living fungus, truffles, and bats scattered.

“Are you SURE old lady Hazel ain’t real?” one of the dragons whined.

“Yeah, and I’m gonna prove it! Stop being such a hatchling! That droopy old dragon ain’t nothing but a story!”

What? I am not that old,” she muttered, a bit louder than she intended as she slid deeper into the shadows behind her.

Three dragon heads swiveled in her direction, eyes wide with surprise. But the only thing they could see was a pair of glowing green eyes fading into darkness as a low chuckle surrounded them...

From your lair, who are the three (3) teenaged dragons?

What made them want to explore the legend of 'old lady Hazel'?

What happens to them while in Hazel's hollow?

While we're fairly relaxed about claim posts in theme weeks, this one is meant for players to share their dragons with lore. This means any 'claim' post must have at least one (1) of the dragons you will be writing about. Empty claim posts will be deleted.

Hanging from a branch in front was the same Nocturne, once again - this time, howling with laughter. "I've had enough of these stories," the young Fae muttered. "Take someone else, next time. How do you even know that the witch - that she's gonna tell you anything? I don't think... "That's where the excuses come in. Well - no, it's not much of an excuse. More like 'hey, lady, we're eager students of magic, and so would you please teach us? Fantasmo has a big grin on his face that made Cumulus very uneasy. "Oh please. It's just a fairy tale. Everybody in Sornieth knows that." "But.. how can you explain the rise in injuries lately..? Do you think that every dragon in the Leviathan Trench randomly started getting hurt? It just had to be Hazel," Cumulus squeaked. Nala poked her head from around her sleeping cave. "Please don't tell me you two are going at it again. Hazel is fake. End of story. Now if you don't mind, some dragons are TRYING to SLEEP, so if you could quiet down a bit, that would be fantastic." Once Fantasmo was sure she wasn't listening, he whispered in an eerie tone, "In one month exactly, when the moon is full and at its highest point, we'll set out and I'll show you how fake all the stories are." With that, Fantasmo turned around and left Cumulus all alone. ~~~~~ “Are you SURE old lady Hazel ain’t real?” Cumulus was fidgeting nervously, his ears twitching back and forth. “Yeah, and I’m gonna prove it! Stop being such a hatchling!" Fastasmo snapped. Cumulus flinched. Hatchling. He hated when anybody called him that. He turned and lunged at Fantasmo, but Nala stood between the two of them and caught cumulus. "Stop bickering, both of you! Or else we're going home right now." Before either Fantasmo or Cumulus could complain, something glittered in the darkness. Two glowing green eyes stared at the little group, menacing and luring. "What the.." Fantasmo remarked curiously. "We have to leave right now," Cumulus said quivering. He covered his eyes with his talons, mist seeping through them. Fantasmo snorted. "We're not going home yet, snail brain." And with that Fantasmo started to talk towards the forest. "No!" Cumulus screeched trying to get Fantasmo to turn back. Fantasmo turned around and smiled at Cumulus, right as the forest ahead of him swallowed him whole. ~~~ Cumulus screamed and charged into the forest. Behind him, he could hear Nala sigh, and he heard her thumping footsteps as she followed behind him. Cumulus got a strange tingling inside his body, as if he was running to his death. Suddenly he heard a whizzing noise behind him. He saw that Nala had something in her neck, and she was lying unconscious on the floor. The last thing he saw before his vision went dark was a strange Bogsneak carrying a dart gun, and next to her, was Fantasmo, smiling. ~~~ Cumulus slowly started to sit up. His head hurt, and his mind was foggy. He looked around the small cave he was in, and he saw the same Bogsneak from before at the other side of the cave making tea. She walked over to him and carefully placed her talon on his forehead. "You feeling better?" She had an amused look on her face. She set a cup of tea next to Cumulus, and he hesitantly took a sip. "I'm Hazel." The Bogsneak gave Cumulus a small smile. Cumulus recoiled. "Hazel? As in the Hazel from the stories?" Hazel chuckled. "Yes, that Hazel." Fantasmo seemed to appear from thin air, and he said, "Who would've thought that all the stories were real." "In a way," Hazel sighed. "You know all those hatchlings made the stories more extreme than they should be." Cumulus stared in pure shock. Hazel sat down and began to speak. "A long time ago, all of the beasts that roamed Sornieth with no home would come to me for food in return for whatever I wanted. At that time, dragons would wander into my forest all the time and ask me stupid questions, pestering me constantly. Then, right around the same time, I sent out all the beasts to go and have a little fun with all the dragons in Sornieth. Not one dragon has ever bothered me since. Ever since then, it's been a tradition. All the beasts will gather, and I'll assign them different jobs." Cumulus stared at the Bogsneak in amazement. "I never knew.." Hazel barked a dry laugh. "Don't tell anybody, promise little dragon?" Cumulus nodded. Fantasmo sighed. "We should probably be heading home. It's dark and everybody must be wondering where we are." Hazel nodded solemnly. "Please do come back soon. Even though it's the life I chose, I still get very lonely sometimes." ~~~ All three dragons made it home very late, and everybody was already in bed. Fantasmo turned slowly to Cumulus and smiled. "Well, that trip was very unexpected." Cumulus couldn't agree more. ~~~

It seems as if Figment wasn't scared of this whole situation or if they were it wasn't showing.
