Children look up in wonder and astronomers study the night sky, cataloguing constellations and theorizing over the physics of space. Many have looked to the heavens and wondered if there is life somewhere out in the vast abyss beyond our world. Spirals of silken fabric flow around its form, obscuring it from view. The creature residing here is called a Stardrape, an elusive and rare being that lives a solitary life wandering the vast abyss of space. Since the beginning of time, their kind has been known as keepers of the universe and its myriad of secrets. The first Stardrape known to Sornieth was discovered during the summer of 2018 by a scientist who believed he saw something flicker behind a distant star. With six legs and a series of membrane-like robes coating its body, the creature called 'Valhalla' settled amidst the stars overlooking the Earth. Some believed they were created to watch over the newly formed planets and celestial bodies, while others thought they were harbingers of destruction. To this day, no one is certain where they came from. Perhaps they were foraged from the remains of dying stars or crafted by the hands of a distant God. The Stardrapes were always few in numbers, but over time, they were sought after and hunted for their innate knowledge of the universe and the rumor that their body parts could bestow eternal life and infinate wisdom upon those who acquired them. Stardrape numbers dwindled until there were only a handful of the creatures left. Their tales faded into folklore and ancient legends before they disappeared from existence entirely. Behind the stars of Sornieth, a single Stardrape egg remained concealed and from it, Valhalla was born. Each individual has a robe that takes on aspects of the galaxy in which they reside, although many younger Stardrapes have translucent white silken robes that persist until they settle within a certain galaxy. In addition to their robes, each Stardrape also wears a mask or veil that obscures their eyes. As they age, both masks and drapes become more complex and may develop additional hanging tassels, bells, or beads. The masks serve to protect each Stardrape's eyes from view since this is where they store memories and forbidden knowledge, which may be transferred to other beings through gaze alone. While many Stardrapes have learned to disguise themselves as Snappers, their true forms sport anywhere between six to ten functional legs, although some may also have additional vestigial limbs beyond this number. Their limbs, necks, and tails are elongated compared to those of a Snapper and the majority of Stardrapes lack wings. Stardrapes sustain themselves by consuming celestial objects and have horse-like dentition that enables them to grind meteorites and other galactic debris. Canine teeth are highly variable and range from equine-like peg teeth to long, boar-like tusks depending on the individual. Some find purpose in protecting a planets or galaxy, while others find their calling in creating or destroying celestial objects. Courtship between Stardrapes (or Stardrapes and dragons) involves an elaborate dance at the end of which the pair will remove their masks and allow their partner to see their third eye. Males are often in charge of caring for eggs and raising offspring, although some pairs prefer to remain together until their hatchlings are old enough to fend for themselves. Eggs may remain dormant for thousands of years without incubation and parents in dire situations often conceal their eggs, scattering a nest across thousands of galaxies so that their offspring cannot be found. Given their marble-like structure, the eyes of a Stardrape can persist in the environment even after the Stardrape itself passes. Travelers who come across an eye can retrieve whatever is stored within it. . . although some are laced with poison or curses. @SpectralKitten - I don't have any currently for sale, but Valhalla is currently on a nest so there should be two new hatchlings for Halloween. I usually split their nests with the mother's owner, but I'm happy to draw art for any of the hatchlings. Price is usually 150-200g/kt including the art.

Yep! I draw all their art pretty tiny on the inside of cards/envelopes that I send off to my penpals, so the art is priced a bit lower because of that. I'll add you to their pinglist though and let you know when there are more for sale.
