WHAT IS IT THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH HERE?
- The goal of this lineage project is create an Offspring List comprised of the lyrics from They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard by Erwin Beekveld in its entirety
YOU REALIZE THAT YOU PROBABLY WON'T HATCH THE PRECISE NUMBER OF DRAGONS YOU'D NEED FOR THAT, RIGHT?
- TBH I actually did NOT come to that realization until recently, haha! Luckily for me, the song ends with the word "back" being echoed around fifteen times and I figure that will give me some leeway should I end up short of/over the number of dragons I need
OKAY... WHY, EXACTLY?
- It is a goal that is simply fun to work towards; it is challenging enough to hold my interest, while still being relatively easy to accomplish. The most difficult aspect is the sheer length of time necessary to complete this project as I have structured it, but this is a difficulty that I do not mind (in some ways this is an incentive)
YOU DO REALIZE THAT THIS COULD GO FASTER, RIGHT?
- I am very aware that the breeds I have chosen for my lineage founders, especially the usage of a Wildclaw, is not ideal for completing this project within anything resembling a "reasonable" amount of time. As the completion of this goal does not necessitate a deadline, this is fine
WHY NOT CHANGE THEM TO PLENTIFULS & CHANGE THEM BACK LATER?
- There are a few reasons why I have chosen not to do this:
- Legolas & Gimli are first and foremost fan-dragons. As such, I believe that it is important for them to remain true to (my envisionment of) their characters; in this case that entails Legolas being a Wildclaw & Gimli being a Snapper
- I dislike the thought of Legolas & Gimli, as a Wildclaw and a Snapper, having an offspring list comprised of dragons that are not also Wildclaws & Snappers. Something about it seems disingenuous to me, in the same way changing them to a Plentiful breed would make them OOC (in my opinion)
- NGL, I Ship it and something about Legolas & Gimli having a slew of mostly 'Dwarven' with a smattering (if the RNG actually loved me) of "Elven' children is both hilarious and adorable to me
- This project has been the sole reason I have remained active, in any form, on this website. There was a period of about a year where I lost almost complete interest in FR, but I STILL logged in ~approximately once a month to put these two losers on a nest. They just keep bringing me back ♥
- I, apparently, took a poll to see if people thought I should at least breed change Legolas into something other than a Wildclaw (I had snagged a scroll) and it was voted down 15:1 so, like, THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!!!
- I mean, at this point I am kind of commitmented to them being a WC and a Snipsnap throughout the project; seems a bit silly to change it this far in
- I'm a huge nerd

- If they had laid perfect 5-egg nests every time, this project would have been completed in roughly 2.2 years; it's been just over 4 at the time of this posting so *shrug emoji*?

- While I am a fan of the movies, and these two are by far my favorite characters from the franchise, LotR is far from my main fandom (Star Trek); loved reading The Hobbit though. NGL I am primarily doing this because I think it's fun!

- In order to maintain the integrity of the lineage, all offspring will be exalted upon reaching adulthood. I originally had a secondary lineage that produced for-sale offspring within the same color range, however I have since sold the secondary pair to clear lair space

- If enough people were to express interest in hatchlings, I would be willing to get a new secondary pair. The founders for the Secondary Line were named Greenleaf & ElfFriend and I sold their offspring for 15kT (TRICOLOR) or 17kT (DOUBLES)

SURPRISE! It only took three years, but we're back up and running! I apologize for the long hiatus; some IRL stuff came up and I more-or-less left FR for just over a year. Regardless, this project is still going strong (if very, very slowly)! :D
This thread is both new
AND improved! If you were subscribed to the old thread you will, obviously, need to 're'subscribe, but take note of the
completed FAQ section with actual frequently asked questions in it. Ooo~
An additional change is that there is no Secondary Line (currently). There wasn't enough interest in their offspring to warrant maintaining the additional line, so Greenleaf & ElfFriend were sold to free up precious lair space. I might be convinced to recreate the line should there be enough interest, but for now I'll be focusing on the Primary Lineage.
Speaking of: Legolas & Gimli will be put on a nest just as soon as I have one available! I will Ping people again once the eggs have hatched, rather than when they're laid, since that is when the offspring list actually registers the new babs.
