in my opinion, firefly is a hit or miss gene. i do like it: it's pretty cool, but people are misusing it by using it to hide unfortunate terts. come on people! spines or stained are way more subtle. good luck trying to change my mind; you'll probably need it.
oh, and there's only one right way to use firefly in my opinion: neon/light-colored terts on dark primaries and secondaries.

I feel firefly is similar to Spines, where you want to have a gene of some sort to pass down while breeding.
I find firefly works well in the Starmap dragons, though. I also think it works really well on certain breeds, where it just shows up at the end of a Bogsneak's tongue! It feels a bit more dynamic there! (This is just a scry of a dragon though. As far as I know, this dragon doesn't actually exist)

dark/dull firefly always looks 'off' to me. It definitely isn't my personal go to for covering up an unfortunate tertiary [i]unless[/i] that tert is light/bright.
